CunninLynguists
Biography
The progressive Southern duo Cunninlynguists' combination of witty lyrics and edgy production has made them a favorite of underground hip-hop fans. Before they teamed up, Deacon the Villain from Kentucky and Kno from Georgia were already well known among the hip-hop underground for both their skills on the mike and their abilities in the producer's chair. Celph Titled, Tonedeff, and Mr. SOS all made guest appearance's on the duo's 2001 debut, Will Rap for Food, which appeared on the small Urban Aces label and soon went out of print.
Rave reviews and Internet message boards helped make the album a rare collector's item until it was reissued in 2005 by the Caroline-associated Freshchest label. Freshchest was also responsible for the Cunninlynguists' sophomore effort, 2003's Southernunderground, which found Mr. SOS joining the group, allowing Kno to switch his focus from rapping to production. Two loose mixtapes featuring a parade of guest stars have also appeared, with Sloppy Seconds, Vol. 1 landing in 2003 and Sloppy Seconds, Vol. 2 following two years later. Mr. SOS had moved on by the time of their third album, Piece of Strange, which arrived in 2006. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

Meaningful music. It's hard to find main stream rap like that. Can't find a sound like them. Listen to them for hours, and still discover something new everytime.
Keep it up. |

CunninLyngui s t s are original simple and sencere they don't force their rhymes into rythym they let them flow thats what makes them excessively unique.

definietly on point with lyrics,"Bein g s Humans Hard" mirroring my life to a "T". Helps to keep my head in the game, and know terrible times can't last forever, still trying to get back on my feet after 2002 plant closure,than k god for music.

Kno's Lyrics in Will Rap For Food were ghost written by Lil Zane, so he didn't have to concentrate on rapping too much. The lyrics are great, I didn't know lil zane had talent!

I agree with you matthew.broc k m e y e r mostly, I'm anti-choice and pro-abortion . I saw a show of theirs and 2 of 3 were wearing Obama shirts. I'm sure a lot of people are voting for Obama and holding their nose, but it's hard to get excited about such a pro-choice candidate if you're against abortions.
|
||
"I dont know how progressive an artist can be who faults women for getting abortions "
There was no fault for women who get abortions; it was applied only to women who get abortions as a means of birth control. No one is pro abortion, even if they are pro choice. We can all agree that repeated abortions as a means of birth control has to be a bad thing. |

I am feeling this!! Some serious lyricists pouring it out!

punk guy, i couldnt agree more... its such a marvelous thing that there is a whole underground of artists like these guys.. songs like these tell stories about what happened in the artists life that everybody can relate to. good sh**t.

Hey katie lynn716, you are under the misconceptio n that when they say progressive, they mean the political meaning. what is meant is like Tool is a progressive rock band, progressive in the musical sense, the same is true of CunninLyngui s t s .

It's real hip-hop, not that fake s**t that you hear on the radio. I gave up on hip-hop after the brag rappers and all the NWA clones took over hip-hop. You can relate to this s**t, you can't relate with gangsta rap. Hell, I grew up in the 'hood in Seattle before it got taken over by those rich f**kers and I can't relate to the gun packin' message of gangsta rap. These guys really do keep it real, the first time I heard "Mic Like a Memory", it was amazing, I could actually relate! CL kicks a**!
