Dave Hollister
Biography
Onetime R&B session vocalist Dave Hollister first appeared on the soundtrack of Boyz N the Hood, but got his big break as an original member of Teddy Riley's Blackstreet, performing on their 1994 debut album. He departed shortly thereafter to pursue a solo career, not only as a singer but also as a songwriter and producer. Hollister's first recorded effort as a solo act, the Erick Sermon/Redman collaboration "Weekend," was featured on the movie soundtrack The Ride and released as a single in 1998. His solo debut album, Ghetto Hymns, was issued in 1999. The autobiographical Chicago '85... The Movie followed a year later. The album eventually went gold thanks to the popularity of "One Woman Man." In 2002, Hollister left DreamWorks for Motown in search of some new energy. His third album, Things in the Game Done Changed appeared the same year and reflected Hollister's change in sound, although it didn't fare as well as his previous releases. Quickly returning to his original label, Hollister issued Real Talk in fall 2003. He then signed with Gospo Centric and released 2006's The Book of David, Vol. 1: The Transition. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Chicago '85's songs are truly a reflection of his feelings. Love you Dave and hope you continue to make more music wether gospel or r&b, i'm there. Oh and i love you at the end of Grateful with Hezekiah Walker.

Had to 'cop' this CD on eBay! I think I've worn some grooves on the CD already and my player in my truck runs hot from listening to Dave over and over again. Destiny and I'm Not Complete are my faves! Overall, I love this CD.

I've been a huge Dave Hollister fan since day one. I own every album and can listen to any one of them any day of the week. He tells a story with his music. He transitions from album to album as we all do in life. From Ghetto Hymns to The Book of David, he lets us in. Glad to see God has touched his life in a very special way. The thing I can appreciate about Dave and especially on his new album is he is always himself. He isn't trying to be a Kirk, Smokie, or Donnie. He is always still Dave.

I love Dave Hollister, I feel that he never really got the attention he deserved. I know he's turned his life over to God which I think is wonderful, but I miss the R&B that he brought to my life. He is AWESOME!!! Good luck Dave with your new endeavors and may God continue to keep and bless you.

David went from Blackstreet to God's Street. What a wonderful soulful gift God has blessed him with. David's "churchboy" voice brings the masses to their feet. David I am going to continue to pray until I get an answer as well. I love your voice and please keep honoring God with all that you have. If no one else supports your music I will. Get the Album and listen to a real "churchboy" sing!!!!
