David Lanz
Biography
One of the most popular artists in the solo instrumental and adult-alternative spheres, Lanz played in several rock bands during his teens, then began developing his style as a solo pianist in a small Seattle nightclub. He introduced some of his originals into the bar's required mix of standards and pop tunes, receiving such a positive response from patrons that, before long, he was playing his own material almost exclusively. His early albums of solo piano works are still among the Narada label's best-sellers. His two collaborative efforts with guitarist Paul Speer also hit the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart; yet as Lanz's national popularity grew, he began to experiment with works for larger and larger ensembles, culminating in full orchestral accompaniments on Skyline Firedance (1990). With 1991's Return to the Heart, he journeyed back to his solo piano roots, and made his vocal debut on 1993's Bridge of Dreams. Lanz remained prolific throughout the decade, resurfacing in 1994 with Christmas Eve; Sacred Road followed in 1996, and two years later he returned with Songs from an English Garden. Next was An Evening with David Lanz, issued in 1999; East of the Moon appeared a year later. ~ Linda Kohanov, All Music Guide

Based on the way you're all talking, David Lanz can see this...
If he can, I hope he knows that I love his music a lot and I listen to it all the time. I'm hoping he'll come to the Twin Cities like Sirriusa suggested. Then there might be a chance I could convince Dad to drive us for 4 1/2 hours to get there. (*sigh* currently reluctant Wisconsinite . . . ) |
what is david lanz currently doing? (live appearances, projects, etc)
i am extending an invite/welco m e for you to come to the twin cities (minnesota) and share your music with us. david, let's see how we can make this happen!!! |

Cristofori's dream is VERY well written, with many things to keep you wanting more imbeded in the music.
Imagination and this song take my breath away. this song makes me cry, thank you DAvid! this is a masterpiece!
I would like to hear more by him. I am new to his music. Cristofori's Dream is powerful and beautiful. d

Christofori' s dream, Beloved and his arrangement on Pachebel's Cannon in D are my favorite songs to play on the piano. If you have not heard these, they are quite a treat. For Christmas music, I love to play Angel of Joy and God Reset Ye Merry Gentleman. Definitely my favorite artist!
Christofori' s Dream is my favorite song by Lanz. This song always makes me feel like all of my senses are heightened and at peace. His music is beautiful. I will always welcome music by him.

There is nothing like the love songs from david lanz in the morning at the office to put things into the proper perspective for me. Mr. Lanz the only thing I can say is Thank you.

David plays music from his heart instead of from a page that someone wrote. It flows like water, clears the air, and settles an anxious, weary mind. Thanx David

David Lanz is one of most talented pianist around. Cristofori's Dream is a very song to me and one of the most beautiful David has ever done. I just adore all his music.
Cristofori's Dream is one of my favorite among many others. But as long as I have been listening to New Age music there will be no other sound quite like Cristofori's Dream. Thank you David Lanz For being such a talented artist.
Wonderful piano; love your sound and originality! I will have to sample more of your music and thanks mjkopp1947, for suggesting "Christofori ' s Dream"..I will sample that on first. Yes, thanks David for such great music!
From the very first time I heard it, I thought that "Christofori ' s Dream" the most romantically beautiful song that I'd ever heard. Now, 20+ years later, my opinion has not changed one iota. Thank you, David, for it and all of your other great work.

I was first introduced to the music of David Lanz on the album (yes, a large, round piece of black plastic) Cristofori's Dream and was swept away. I have never stopped loving this music to this day.
My absolute favorite of David Lanz (and there are many great songs) is Leaves on the Seine. It sweeps me away to a Fall day in Paris and I have only visited Paris once (in Summer). You are a true artist with the piano!

I'm delighted to say that as a sophomore in high school (four years ago), I actuall shot an email to Mr. Lanz. Out of all the artists I've ever sent a fan letter, he was the most polite and friendly...v e r y much like his elegant music. I first discovered him through "Christofori ' s Dream" on the Pure Moods III disk, but fell in love with his other work immediately afterward. That piece in particular, however, holds so much sentimental value for me; thank you, Mr. Lanz.

I have followed this artist for 25 years - his music takes me to a place far away from the everyday rush of life. Thank you David. #1 fan

Because of Pandora, I have been introduced to so many fantastic artists I did not know about, thank you, it brings happiness to my days. Virginia

I absolutely love, love, love his music! I start my work day morning listening to David Lanz. I especially lofe the music on Return to The Heart and Cristofori's Dream!!! :-)
I bought his sheet music for the piamo. Hard to play - he's so original and complicated, , and in a very good way. Phenomenal. Saw him at Wolf Trap once and it was wonderful - he embodies Cristofori.
My favorite. "A whither shade of pale" and "Nightfall" are beautiful pieces.
Just discovered him and WOW. I haven't been this moved by a piece of music since I first heard "Ode to Joy". <3 Beautiful!
One of my favorite pianists. His peices are always moving and beautiful. I don't think I've ever heard a "ho-hum" song by David. :)
Gee, 'Desert Visions' was one of the best, especially the video version! Never will get tired of that. Every piece beautiful, unique, unusual. Go, David!
Exceptional pianist. He puts a refreshing take on every piece that he plays - making it his own. Kudos from one "seasoned" pianist to another.!
Brilliant pianist, I love his rendition of "strawberry fields"! he's a cutie too. ;)
The Good Life by this artist is simply outstanding! So relaxing but nowhere near the elevator:)
This man is talent personified! His music is the perfect stress reliever. God must really like this man.
I know it was in the 80's when I was introduced to this artist's music been sooo long but sounds still fresh and new.
