Dead Prez
Biography
The Florida-based political rap duo Dead Prez consists of Stic.man and M-1, a pair of rappers inspired by revolutionaries from Malcolm X to Public Enemy. They immersed themselves in political and social studies as they forged their own style of hip-hop. They went on to work with Big Punisher on his 1998 album Capital Punishment and released singles like 1998's "Police State with Chairman Omali" and 1999's "It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop." Their debut album, Lets Get Free, was released in early 2000. A two-volume mixtape project -- Turn off the Radio: The Mixtape, Vol. 1 and Turn off the Radio: The Mixtape, Vol. 2: Get Free or Die Tryin' -- followed in 2002 and 2003, boasting tracks and new productions, and their proper studio follow-up, RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta, appeared in 2004. Two years later the group collaborated with the three remaining members of the Outlawz for Can't Sell Dope Forever, followed shortly after by Soldier 2 Soldier, a joint record between Stic.man and Young Noble. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

Damn, this is sick. I purchased Let's Get Free. It got me charged. Commercial rappers needs to take notes - you can be intelligent AND powerful. That's real hip hop and it don't stop ;)

THE FLO ON THIS TRACK IS SO ILLLLL. HOW CAN A BLACK MAN IN AMERICA NOT UNDERSTAND THAT.

These brothers need to be heard especially in these "HARD TIMES" very uplifting.

Good s**t. I used to live in the projects and these guys know more about the hood than any of those hip-poppers who think they are gangsta. And that would f**king blow my mind if Immortal Technique and Dead Prez made an album, it might be on the same level as "Fear of a Black Planet", especially if Akrobatik got in on that s**t. Oh and if CunninLyngui s t s and Del tha Funkee Homosapien got in on that, it would f**kin' change hip-hop forever. It would also have the best lyrics ever.

"Who shot biggie smalls/if we dont get them/ they gon get us all" brilliant... t a l l a h a s s e rep. Real Tallahassee, not T-Pain....

Dead Prez is THE warrior truth. heads up. do U know wasshappinin g ? 4 life.

I agree with everyone's comments so far. Immortal Technique and Vinnie Paz from JMT are monsters on the mic. I'd love to hear 'em collaborate if they haven't already. Atmosphere's tight too. Right now I'm really feelin' Akrobatik. He's on heavy rotation in my car right now.
they should be played on radios all over instead of the crap they play now. at least dp as message to uplift.
Not just Immortal Tech, check out Jedi Mind Tricks, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Edam, Apathy.
lets go with more like 90% white... the best part is that they talk about crackers... and all the white people are jammin out to the music but not the words... because the message is strong... it good that they have a white audience, that audience has more power than any other audience, but if none of them get the message then their words mean nothing but comfort... bleeeeek
the crazy thing is that if you go to a dead prez live show about 50% of the crowd is white. 10% black and the othe 40% is latino & asian.

I know there is a cause and effect that is what is needed on our side to start something in reaction to what is being started with us. Life has nothing involved in it that makes us work this hard. When will we stop working so hard for things that don't matter.
