Biography
Hyper-technical deathcore band Despised Icon was formed in Montreal, Canada, in January of 2002, and by year's end had already released its first album, Consumed By Your Poison, through local Galy Records. The group suffered a few setbacks due to lineup changes the following year, but rebounded by early 2004 with a retooled formation comprised of dual vocalists Steve Marois and Alexandre Erian, guitarists Yannick St-Amand and Eric Jarrin, bassist Sebastien Piche, and drummer Alexandre Pelletier. Their next recording was a self-financed EP entitled Syndicated Murderers, which, along with their hardworking tour schedule, helped get them signed to Century Media Records for the early-2005 release of their second proper full-length, The Healing Process. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

any1 check out the new Dispised Icon album? its f**kin good and hardly any gay pig sqeeling... JFAC doesnt blow, their first album did but they are way better now listion to ruination youll see what i mean

pig squealing is the most pathetic excuse of anything. but this is actualy a fairly good band. don't usually really like true death metal but i can rock this s**t.

This band pritty much created the pig squeel. It was cool when only dispised icon and JFAC did it but i f**kin hate it now its annoying.

I like some pig squeals, but Despised Icon's pig squeals are terrible in my opinion. Beyond that though, this band is brutal.

It is beyond stupid. I dont like it. Just friggin sing, bark, growl.....wh a t e v e r . Musically this band sounds awesome though, like what Ive hear so far. |

deathcore is gimmick dudes. Suffocation combined deathmetal and breakdowns and were they called deathcore?? NO! Despised Icon has some of the most technical riffs and breakdowns i have ever heard. I tried learning their s**t but its hard as hell. I will attest that the "brees" are un-necessary and he should be doing cannibal corpse esque lows. Brees arent even considered by professional vocalists. Why? Because it damages your vocal chords. Btw these guys have a new album coming out.

@ xnick breakdowns are not exclusive to hardcore. Metal has had breakdowns forever.

They're deathcore because they play death metal and incorperate things such as breakdowns and other hardcore/met a l c o r e elements into their music like two-step drum beats while maintaining a really heavy death metal style. Their genre isn't dependant upon their brees. The brees are just added by the vocalists for awesomeness, and they inhale and exhale. This band is amazing, they have changed over time, but that's not necessarily bad. The guy who said the two vocalists sound the same, do you have ears? I mean if you don't listen to metal then maybe you can say that, but they both have a definite different sound, one squeals and has lower growls, the main vocals have just a gritty scream. This band is technical and changes it up on every song, and cd. They are amazing.

What Despised Icon doesnt show off in talent, they make up for with amazingly non repetitive tracks. Despised Icon Plays what they like, and its much more original than bands like Nile or Hate Eternal. Theyre not going for being the kings of the stage with rediculous shred solos and repetitive tremolo riffs which are hard to differentiat e from one another because the style never changes. Thats boring. And for another, the voice sounds much more crisp than your average vocalist can produce.
