Destroy The Runner
Biography
Melodic Christian metalcore outfit Destroy the Runner, based out of San Diego, CA, became an official part of the Solid State family in June 2006. Appearing the next month at Illinois' Cornerstone Festival, the band -- singer Kyle Setter, guitarists Duane Reed and Nick Maldonado, bassist Jeremiah Crespo, and drummer Marc Kohlbry -- debuted that September with their full-length Saints. They subsequently supported the record on the road with Haste the Day, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and more. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

I rather like this band. they ahve a nice sound
(though I'll need to investigate their new CD ) From what i've heard, "Saints" is relaly good. Also... who cares if they are a christian band? I am not christian and have an extremely cynical view of the christian religion, yet I dont make a fuss about it. but that is just me a guess. One of those hardcore music loving athiests who dont mind christian music. |

I love these guys so much. Like Bill, the Christian part is best part about these guys. That, and the fact they mix the melodic and the screaming. For me, that's a huge plus in a band. I like to call it "The Clean and Scream" style. I would have to argue with metal princess however, I think the overall sound of "I, Lucifer" is better, from the musical writing, to both sets of vocals. Still, these guys are going to go far in the metal scene.

Yeah definitely bill...plus, you don't have to really worry about what the band is singing about since they are Christian... l i k e some metal bands talk about killing, cannibalism, w/ lots of cussing, etc. Almost all the songs have something positive to say about things going on in life :)
what i like about this band is that when my parents complain about how they dont like them i can say they are christian and it makes it sorta better
Why do people feel the need to throw such insults. If you don't like the band then say so in a polite manner, rather than plopez did so rudely.
one of the more underrated bands and i've been listening to them since saints came out. good stuff
Destroy the runner WAS one of my favorite bands but their new CD is Teh Fail. Saints is one of the best CDs of all time, its one of the most amazing CDs. I just don't understand how they went from Godly to Fail. oh well Their old stuff is amazing. And who the hell cares if they are Christian if they are good then they are good.
sigh... not another debate about a band being christian. let them believe and sing. who gives a shii? half of the people wouldn't know they were christian if they didn't have that label so who cares?@!?!?!
what is there to pose as? they are musicians and they are christian...
who says they can't combine the two. being christian metalcore does not make it sound any different from regular metalcore. |
they are most cerainly not posers, but even if they were : they still know how to ROCK for GOD!!!!!
How are they posers simply because they don't have the same religions as other metalcore bands. That's one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard anyone say.
Christian and metalcore are in the same sentence. So, evolution is from mud and time, while Christianity relies on the blood of Christ for salvation and creation from nothing? No offense, but seriously, awesome factor.
Posers??? posing as what? Musicians or Christians?. . . O v e r l o o k the religious aspects??? What's "religious" about it?
Christian amd metal core should not be used in the same sentance. POOOSSERS
but other than that The aleph not too shabby |
i have never drawn a similarity between this band and as i lay dying, but i guess i can see it now that it's mentioned. in my opinion, Saints is a masterpiece. I, Lucifer sounds like a completely different artist with their new singer: not terrible, just not Destroy the Runner
How dare they release the Crap from I, lucifer. I was Extremely dissapointed . but everything from saints is GODLY
they're okay. if they dirtied up the clean vocals and had some more minor tonality, they'd be better. but who cares if they're christian. war of ages are a christian metal band and they are tight as hell.
they are not very similar to As I Lay Dying anymore. they also have a new album called I, Lucifer which was released may 2008, but for some reason it's not on pandora yet...
