Deuter
Biography
Like many artists in the contemporary instrumental realm, Deuter mixes acoustic and electronic instruments, ethnic influences, and sounds from nature -- only he's been doing it since the early '70s. Born in the German village of Falkenhagen, Deuter learned flute and taught himself to play guitar but was discouraged from pursuing music as a career. The trauma of a nearly fatal auto accident in 1970, however, motivated him to pursue his dreams. His first recording, D, was released on Kuckuck in 1971. Over the years, Deuter's spiritual search has taken him around the world, most notably to India, where he lived on an ashram, studied Indian music, and recorded several albums. In the mid '80s he moved to the US, eventually settling in Santa Fe, NM. Deuter's style is characterized by gentle melodies and joyful rhythms that render his music accessible even as he presents an intriguing blend of Eastern and Western styles. ~ Linda Kohanov, All Music Guide

Well, once again, Thank you, Pandora 'cause I never would have heard of him/her/them . Kind of reminds me of Land of Forever. Now I just realized it's him. Well, he's great.

This is some good stuff. Ever since I discovered pandora, I've been using new age music to go to sleep to. Deuter is one of my favorites.

As a kid I loved to buy the cheap paper kites and build them, and run across the neighborhood to the field and finally get it way up in the clouds, them lay in the cool fall air with the sun on my face and watch and imagine I was that kite. This music makes me think of those days.

Neat, after hearing Enya for the first time in 1990, going through the requisite Mannheim Steamroller phase, etc- this is like brand new old stuff. You know? Love it.

I was first introduced to Deuter back in the 80's by a boyfriend's parents, lol. Nirvana Road was the album, I think. Deuter's music is soooo relaxing. The perfect thing to unwind to.

Wow! Very ethric and moving...I would recommend this one for sound and healing.

I plan on collecting all of Deuters CDs. along with Liquid Mind they are both great. Even while just listening casually i am entranced when Deuters songs come on and often find myself just stopping what i am doing to enjoy and relax.
|
||
Along with Enya and Gandolf, Deuter is one of my absolute favorites! I would hate to have to pick just one. I could listen to them all day long.
|
||
Very relaxing music to listen to. Helps ones mind to become more clear and makes the day quite enjoyable.

I am a psychotherap i s t -- and use Deuter's music all day long in my office. It contributes to a peaceful, safe environment. It is the best I have found. Thank you!

great as background while I am working -- drowns out the "noise" and allows me to focus on what is important.

"Black Velvet Flirt" is an intriguing chaser to Bernard Herrmann's "Psycho" soundtrack. The track here's "East of the Full Moon" following "The Rainstorm."
Downtempo electronica marinated in that new age vibe. Cool. Accessible. From All Mus G: "Born in the German village of Falkenhagen, Deuter learned flute and taught himself to play guitar but was discouraged from pursuing music as a career. The trauma of a nearly fatal auto accident in 1970, however, motivated him to pursue his dreams." |

His music is so uplifting and relaxing, it quiets the mind and the heart to be one. I listen to it as often as it plays for me on Pandora. Such a sense of spiritualnes s around me. I love nature and all that it offers to us on a daily bases. It gives me a way to help the move postitivenes s in and negativity out the door. I work at university and it can be overwhelming somedays and it really helps to have it lightly playing so others can hear it in

The music sounds surreal and magical. It brings peace to my inner most being. I can close my eyes and drift....dri f t into a quiet, joyous place. There is love ~

If it's still available, there's a 2 CD set called "Sands of Time" which includes music from the 1970s and 80s. I think it's a good deal and a good starting point. |
||
his music is enchanting. I would like a cd but unsure which to buy to get a full music simil

Lifted my heart this morning! After a rough start to my day I feel newly awakened. I'll certainly be looking for more of his music. I especially agree with Jblovejoy4's comment Wow! and Justin's comments about Deuter's power from not being in a hurry!

||
I first heard Illumination Of The Heart which is on Like The Wind In The Trees while listening to an Enya station. After nearly crying from the beautifulnes s of it all, I immediately created a Deuter station. "Wow!" is a good way to describe his music!!
