DragonForce
Biography
The U.K.-based power metal sextet Dragonforce formed in 1999 around the twin-guitar assault of Herman Li and Sam Totman, keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, and the powerful vocals of ZP Theart; drummer David Mackintosh and bass player Adrian Lambert joined the lineup later. Dragonforce had already toured with the likes of Halford and Stratovarius before the release of their debut, 2003's Valley of the Damned. The success of that record earned the melodic rockers a worldwide audience, resulting in a string of sold-out concerts in Asia and Europe. The group's sophomore effort, Sonic Firestorm, was released in 2004, followed by Inhuman Rampage in 2006 and Ultra Beatdown in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

first of all, listen to the whole album, and then shorly after you regain conciousness you will realize that no one has ever rocked your socks off like your socks have been rocked off by DRAGONFORCE, hats off to the greatest "math metal" that has ever dominatged your ungreatful eardrums...

Their stuff cannot be played in real life and will never sound the same.
Their Lead singer...is he the same guy who sang "Eye of the Tiger?" Actually these guys would sound better without him and do somthing different with that tempo every once and a while. I'm really trying to like these guys, but....

I heard of DragonForce a few months before GH3 came out but I think it was only because one of my friends showed me a youtube video for TTFAF, so I guess I basically fall into that crowd. Still, it was hard not to be wowed by their fretwork and keyboarding. Its like a... sonic firestorm. But they could definitely use some variety. The more I listen to them the more I wish for some more cerebral lyrics and for them to try something different instrumental l y , even just a little. I still like them,

Yea, Guitar Hero 3 has Through Fire and Flames as an unlockable song. It's ridiculousy hard to play.
Someone is telling me that there's a Dragon Force song in one of the
Guitar Hero games. Anyone know if this is true? And if so what song is it? |
and (cause it wouldn't fit)
3: EVERY band has BOTH fans and critics. with DF, they (meaning both, though the latter more so) are just VERY pronounced. :P to paraphrase (can't remember well enough to quote) a politician on NPR recently: "to try and please everyone is to please no one." No band is the "greatest band on Earth". except Tenacious D. *killed for lame attempt at humor* |
In their own right, DragonForce is a great band that's fine to like, and I'm a fan as well. that said, I also know that they are disliked for a number of reasons:
1: their songs can get repettitive. it's tough for all but die-hard fans to listen to all their songs consecutivel y , but that's fixed by throwing some variety in (a la Pandora) 2: people have gotten tired of listenning to 'Heroes play TtFa(t)F. it's a great anthem, but many feel that it's played to death. |

i really like this band but for some rason people call me gay cos i like df. can someone please clarify this confusing comment to me?
Everyone just shut up Dragonforce owns you all you're just too afraid to admit their awesomeness. -_-

OK those last two comments are ridiculose. I do play an instrument (guitar) and it's because of that that I know how Herman Li is FAKING IT! He uses tons of wah-wah and effects and an... ughh... WHAMMY BAR! Thats musical fakeness at it's top. As for how they do it, it's called a friggin' RECORDING STUDIO. O Rly? My friend can play the intro to TTFATF (and no, not on GH3). Hes 13! tell me, if this was fake could he play it? (and yes he really is 13. Hes just that good.) |
definitly one of my favorite metal bands, they are just great listen to some of their older stuff on valley of the damned its great n their new albums r good too
does their technique matter if they can pull it off live (which I have seen for the record), --get a crowd going--, and (oh heavens forbid) get a fanbase? ultimately, the modern music industry - both studio and concert - are just entertainmen t . you don't have to be entertained, but what's the point in ruining it for those who are?
also forgive me, but I'm pretty sure those other accessories are there for a reason. : / |

How the crap do they do it? one of the best bands of all time.
And soldiers of the wasteland is their best song |
You know what... people who dis bands and talk smack about them probably don't have a clue how to even play an instrument or even hold a guiter for that matter.. And if they do.. Dragonforce has more talent in one of thier dead skin cells than they do. These guys are fun and entertaining and fun to listen to. They are very gifted musicians and the music is a blast! I saw them live and had the time of my life!
OK ok yes Dragonforce and guitar hero was a mistake. Inhuman rampage has pretty much been ruined and dragonforce has pretty much been ruined by fanboys media and all. But lets ignore inhuman rampage and focus on other stuff. Idk if u hate or love DF I for one like them at times but they just dont provide good all around listening I will admit that. But listen to Sonic Firestorm and valley of the damned. Awesome albums so yah theirs my take on DF the point is to have fun while listening to them.
Ok hypup I'll answer your question. YES. I have seen them live. I was completely dissapointed . It was a waste of money. And even if I hadn't, they are NOT pretty damn good. And for all you p**sies saying "we have are opinions," blah blah blah. If you really like this crap, more power to you. But I think you should go listen to REAL guitar gods Like buckethead and Yngwie and Gilbert and even friggin' Slash but these guys are FAKE. My friends and sometimes do improv dragonforce and you honestly c

One of the greatest bands of all time!!!! Their albums kick a** but their Concerts are even better. ROCK ON DRAGONFORCE! ! ! ! ! ! !
there music sounds a little too good to be true, i think they speed it up, but good all the same. but i have to say the dragonforce station is alot better then the band itself
ENOUGH. you have your opinions. first amendment yadda yadda. but if you're just gonna troll, PLEASE get off the internet and find something you DO like. if people "waste their lives listening to this", why waste precious seconds of YOUR life telling them what to blast into their ears, when clearly no one is going to take your advice? face it people. every band, no matter how "horrible @ lief" they are, has its fans. they wouldn't last long with a record label if they didn't.

I think you should leave em alone.. they are a great... nay Awesome band the way they are!!!!!!!
dragon force if they can pull this off live they are great players but the singer needs more power little thin needs more balls also i think they should play more for the songs not just to riff
Not a big fan of D.F. I like some of it...too mainstream.. . . p u s h e d out there. they might as well be DRAGON FORCE INCORPORATED . You should get a free starbucks coupon with the purchase of album...lol
seems like andrew needs a hug( check out crimson glory trancendance is the best metal cd of all time
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I AM a fan of DF its just when a band gets too mainstream they could get f**ked up with the media. these guys havent! they might be the first band that comes to mind when sum1 talks about metal, but in no way am I saying that these guys are bad! I dunno if its because you misread my comments or if you jumped to conclusions, but I LOVE DF.
If you have nothing better to say then screw off. theres no room for people like you on this thread. Good Day. |

travchef1 says: losers love metal for the acceptance of other losers and when a band gets popular they dont like it because a britteny spears fan might recognize a song and that kills the loser agenda i am a real fan for the music not the cool clothes or the rebellion but my form of art that i love. so if aband gets popular and you do not like them then you really arent a fan if you do not beleive me go to a metal show a loser outcast convention for social missfits
see my coment above douche |
connor. b4 u make any discriminati o n s anwser me this. have YOU seen them live? if not then dont say anything against them. and besides you have to admit they r pretty d*mn good
The bottom line about Dragonforce is that most of their songs have the same components arranged in different ways. Same key, same rhyming lyrics, song structure, etc. I enjoyed listening to them at first, but I found out there's bigger and better things out there. I encourage anyone who likes Dragonforce to try to expand their taste in metal music.
By the way... Ryan, just for reference, they do have a few slower songs (ex. trail of broken hearts) Well put Travchef1!!! |
THE GUITAR IS FAKE!! THE MUSIC VIDEO OF TTFAF IS SPED UP. No matter what you die hards think, this band is FAKE. As for "seeing them live" if you had paid any attention you would have noticed how sped up it really is. Yea, they can write crazy a** guitar parts, but they can't play them and thats where it counts. As for the drummer, he is pretty good. It is only the guitar that is faked
This band is one of my favorites. Amazing guitaring and the shear passion and fire that they exude is miraculous. Epic music from an epic band.
I don't think they speed it up. Enough people have seen 'em live and have vouched that this is acutally how fast that they play that those rumors should be squelched by now. Admitted, these guys have talent. Being a drummer, I've tried my hand (or hands & legs, for that matter) at drumming to their music, but I can only get through one or two, with moderate accuracy, before being completely worn out. I don't know how they do it for whole concerts. Just once, though, a slower song would be nice.
