DragonForce
Biography
The U.K.-based power metal sextet Dragonforce formed in 1999 around the twin-guitar assault of Herman Li and Sam Totman, keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, and the powerful vocals of ZP Theart; drummer David Mackintosh and bass player Adrian Lambert joined the lineup later. Dragonforce had already toured with the likes of Halford and Stratovarius before the release of their debut, 2003's Valley of the Damned. The success of that record earned the melodic rockers a worldwide audience, resulting in a string of sold-out concerts in Asia and Europe. The group's sophomore effort, Sonic Firestorm, was released in 2004, followed by Inhuman Rampage in 2006 and Ultra Beatdown in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

Probably though my eyes on fo the BEST bands in their field they are kind of a love or hate band there really is no in between. they are great live i saw them in mayhem last summer (2008) i know they only have 4 albums (5 if you count the self released) and i hope to see more to come by them ^_^
and why is Nightwish up there... and Iron Maiden lol i'm sorry i dont see much of a similarity but thats me. also if you like dragonforce some other good bands to check out are: Freedom Call Power Ques |

I actually prefer Powerglove to Dragonforce by a lot...look up their cover of the Tetris theme on youtube...Th e y compensate for the cheesiness of the genre by producing covers of old-school videogame tracks. It's cheesy metal on purpose...an d it works.
good musicians but they make song that are too much a like to be considered the best
check my station Oger's Metal mostly power/prog metal with over 30 pages of artists then chose who is the best power metal band |
Don't get me wrong, they are superb musicians. Then again, most power metal bands are. But Dragonforce is NOT the best power metal band.
As for the "comparison" to Nightwish; read the whole thread. |
well adaver ive seen dragonforce live recently in may and they are just as awesome as on thier cd's and ultra beatdown is the truth and i like ightwish too but to compare them to dragonforce is just crazy u cant do it nightwish's voals cant add up to zp theart of dragonforce
Dragonforce is a damn good band but they provide nothing new at all to the genre of music but like i said damn good nonetheless
Yeah what the hell is up with nightwish being up here? |
Dragonforce is a good band but their music doesn't vary much. I can listen to any of their songs just not an entire album. After a while it all starts to sound the same. I don't know why Nightwish is on that list though, kinda seems like the oddball of the group. I'd replace them with Primal Fear which have a more diverse sound then Dragonforce but are still Power Metal.
Dragonforce is decent at best. You'd know what I'm saying if you've seen them live. However, they make some good studio recordings. But touting them around as if they are the BEST power metal band in existence is just pure stupidity.
I am a musician, I own all of the albums exept for Ultra Meatdown. They overuse the whole glory and triumph theme. It gets tired and lame really quickly. They are not innovators in any way. Also, implying that these guys are the pinnacle of the genre is bull. |
well you dont hear me saying your favorite band is "too bland" on their pandora web page so please keep your asinine comments off the drangonforce page
and that's your opinion, ant. I'm sorry you cannot accept that.
it's not that I'm "unworthy for power metal music", it just does not appeal me. and that's all on preference. so please don't be rude to me when I did NOT say anything bad about this band. |
dragonforce is beyond nightwish you tool dragonforce is beyond all so if you hate them you need to tear your ears off cause you arent worthy for any power metal music
no offense to any fans, but I've listened to some Dragonforce, but eh... their a little too bland for me. I really tried, but it's not clicking. sorry. why they're on my Nightwish radio is beyond me.
ok, I'm done. sorry if I offended anyone. you can ignore this comment. |
Saw them live. They don't speed it up. It was a good show. Don't believe anything you hear on the internet.
Great band--AND I like all the similar artists. So bah to power-metal fans who hate on DF. :-)
I've seen them live, not that impressive. I can listen to them sparingly but I prefer the likes of Symphony X.
I heard these guys because they're "similar" to Symphony X, I'll thumbs down this and keep listening to Symphony X. They actually play their music and don't speed it up at all, they can actually play live.
Eh... these guys are alright, but they speed up their music on their albums to make it sound really fast.
Overrated indeed. Mediocre? Yes. 7/10 |
I thought I was the only one who didnt like DragonForce. . . But Mark, you hate them for a blasphemous reason! Videogame music is the best genre around!! I dont like em cause Iron Maiden already exists and rocks enough on their own, DragonForce sounds far too similar to me...
Lots of people dislike this band because they think its just about playing fast, but I love the sound, the rhythm, everything, and its metal, AND its fast. That makes it awesome
I haven't heard of them - but if sam and herman are shredding it up, it can't be too bad.
Unless the songs suck. See: Ultra Beatdown. |
You all have heard of Demoniac, yes? Sam and Herman were the guitarists, same drummer as DF, the vocalist is the same as the "evil vocals" heard in the background of some of the "Inhuman Rampage" songs...
I f***ing love this band!!! I just wish they'd quit with the goofy "nintendo" sounds, though.
Just by looking at the lyrics one would assume that all of the band's members were medieval slaves in a past life.
DF has really perfected their sound with Ultra Beatdown. They combined the fantasy metal elements from Sonic Firestorm with the speed and raw power of Inhuman Rampage. It's difficult to find one song that defines them, but I think A Flame for Freedom does it quite nicely.
Same here. It's the only one I truly enjoy, the others are all pretty much the same.
One of those kind of bands where "you've heard one song, you've heard them all". Through the Fire and the Flames is the only song I'll ever care to listen to.
...more forgettable than DF's. Maybe cause I can't hear what they're saying. Like I said, to each their own.
And yeah, DF gets repetitive. Earlier the better, for DF. |
PoU: I see your point, RoF has a -very- different feel than DF. I only like some of RoF's songs, ironically, there isn't enough guitar for me in some of them. Never heard 3 Inches. To each their own I suppose, I find DF's solos awesome (for the most part, some of their songs the solos are easily forgettable and meh.) Dark Moor's okay, they suffer from the kamelot/blin d g u a r d i a n / e v e r y o t h e r p o w e r m e t a l b a n d syndrome- Can't hear them! I think their songs are...
THe songs on Inhuman rampage and Sonic Firestorm are the best. Valley of the Damned not so much
Woot, Dark Moor & Nightwish! The former I've heard one song by them and loved it, the latter, have heard several songs and love it.
I like DragonForce but it gets repetitive. |
