DragonForce
Biography
The U.K.-based power metal sextet Dragonforce formed in 1999 around the twin-guitar assault of Herman Li and Sam Totman, keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, and the powerful vocals of ZP Theart; drummer David Mackintosh and bass player Adrian Lambert joined the lineup later. Dragonforce had already toured with the likes of Halford and Stratovarius before the release of their debut, 2003's Valley of the Damned. The success of that record earned the melodic rockers a worldwide audience, resulting in a string of sold-out concerts in Asia and Europe. The group's sophomore effort, Sonic Firestorm, was released in 2004, followed by Inhuman Rampage in 2006 and Ultra Beatdown in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

I love there combination of hopeful lyrics and there rapid melodies. If you don't listen carefully the do sound all the same but for me that requires being so f**king tired that I'm more focused on staying awake.

Inhuman Rampage earns a big huge "Meh" in my book after about 7 minutes. DF is one of those things that's amazing, but only after you've listened to about 4 consecutive hours of black metal.
LOL.
I got through all of Inhuman Rampage, it's amazing. I love the tempo change of the last song. |
...And unicorns have nothing to do with the credibility of my statements.
Just sayin'. |

@Curtis Houk: I'm sorry my comment offended you, but I just happened to watch a video of them live, and ZP Theart and Vadim just struck me as being attracted to men (Or else they're just two of the gayest straight men I've ever seen). As for songwriting talent, it demeans the power and special moments that the solo brings to a song if the entire thing is a solo. I could argue the DF has no solos, because there is no solo to stand out from the rest of the song. It makes it boring.

Plague of Unicorns says: 10-22-2009
If they fired the keyboardist, the band's homosexualit y level would drop by about 33.333%. And we've already gone over why I feel that way. They definitely are talented instrumental i s t s , but they could work on their songwriting skills. Just because you can shred for 7 minutes straight doesn't mean you can write good songs. this coming from a plague of unicorns?? the group is a freakin mazing and until you can prove your better, you have no right |
Fangirl, there's some tempo changes on a few songs like the last song on Sonic Firestorm and Inhuman Rampage but more would be nice.
Walter, they bore me too much to laugh with or at them...
a bit of changes in tempo at least, boys? |
@rammstein: NO THEY DON'T, IT'S AN ESTABLISHED FACT THAT THEY DON'T. IT'S ALSO VERY VERY REAL, SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU.
hate to break it to you, it's fast but not that fast. Van Haelen can and has played faster than this. Also they aren't the only power metal band. I don't really like them but it's not because they "cheat". its because they tap basic patterns. and by the way sports prophet no ONE...there' s 2 of em'
THIS CAN'T BE REAL...NO ONE CAN PLAY THIS FAST FOR THIS LONG. THEY PROBABLY PLAY ONE BAR THEN LOOP IT FOR LIKE 8 OR 12 MEASURES...E V E N LIVE, THIS CAN BE DONE....FAKE ! ! !

it's cool if a guitarist can play really fast. but their songs don't have many good changes in tempo.
they might be talented, don't get me wrong, but they bore me. |
WRONG!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Keyboards are a huge part of the band, it's what makes DF so amazing! |
They really do play that fast live. I like some of their tunes. It's too bad they act like complete morons while playing live though. It's like watching a bunch of 12 year olds on stage.
compare the main riff of amon amarth's "cry of the blackbirds" to the intro to "Flame of Youth"
or the chorus of "twilight of the thunder god" to the verse of "heart of a dragon" kinda interesting, huh? |
I'm kinda getting sick of these guys. They've gotten overhyped in my opinion.
come to find out that dragonforce did the original pkoemon theme! lol i found it on www.playlist . c o m so if yall wanna check it searh pokemon (cover)
I admit I like them better in vids. still n all, TTFATF's is anthemic..;- )
I heard one song and thought 'this is cool'.
I heard another and thought 'also cool'. Listened to a third and thought 'it's alot like the other two...' By the time the 5th song rolled around I was checking the name to figure out what I was hearing. It's great in short spurts, but I can't listen to this for very long. |
They're kind of like whisky. If you're not a whisky drinker, you think it all tastes the same.
Hearbreak Armageddon is amazing and has some fun guitar solos in it like nothing else I've heard from DF, yay!
thank you for clearing that up! its good to know theyre not cheaters, even if they do get repetitive
@Roonil: It's just a rumor. The guitarists really can play that blindingly fast. But I'm with Fangirl on this. BLAND.
k, so ive been hearing alot about these guys using computers to speed up their music. is that true? it is ridiculously fast and complicated, but im not sure if its because they are amazingly talented or if(dun dun dunnnn!) the rumors are true!!! could someone please clear it up?
More like AwesomeForce , although they are a begginers metal band (like someone said a few posts back) I keep comming back to them.
they're good until the point comes that the sound gets bland after 3 minutes...
*shrug* I still don't get why they played on my Nightwish station. |
Soldiers of the Wasteland doesn't sound like any other DF song I've heard, yay!
