Dredg
Biography
Hailing from Los Gatos, CA, Dredg began sharpening their aggro-metal sound in the early '90s. Comprised of Gavin Hayes (vocals/guitar), Mark Engles (guitar), Drew Roulette (bass), and Dino Campanella (drums), the group was performing in area clubs before they'd even graduated from high school. Dredg self-released the Orph EP in 1997. The ambitious Leitmotif followed two years late, and it was reissued with the band's 2001 signing to Interscope. El Cielo, Dredg's proper Interscope debut, arrived in autumn 2002, and Deftones producer Terry Date was at the helm for their 2005 effort Catch Without Arms. They released the concert album Live at the Fillmore a year later, followed by Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion in 2009. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

Yeah, some of their stuff is fairly reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. I like the way they incorporate atmospheric music with worldbeat and straightforw a r d rock. Very cool

I WAS IN TOWN DURING ONE OF THERE CONCERTS BUT I HIT THE ROAD BEFORE THEY PLAYED :(
I like these guys . Its not a bad thing at all but sometimes they remind me of Porcupine Tree.
I would love to see these guys live.
My absolute favorite band, I never get tired of their songs. |
Dredg is the insanely creative and definately one of the best live acts out there

one of if not my favorite band, very creative. you need to listen to their entire albums from start to finish to appreciate them fully. wish more bands strived for excellence and creativity like this group. truly remarkable music.
Pariah is an amazing album...lyri c a l l y and musically deep and layered. What a comeback album!
Great band. El Cielo and Catch Without Arms were both good, haven't heard Leitmotif yet, and from the reviews, can't wait to hear more of Pariah.

Backed up the new album to May now. That's almost heartbreakin g , enit? But I expect it'll be plenty worth the wait.
Just you guys wait and listen to their new CD dropping in march, I heard it the day they finished and it is nothing short of amazing... complete sensory overload.
.... and don't miss this band live. ever. |
great band, one of my all time favorites. was a little disappointed in catch without arms but el ceilo and leitmotif were awesome enough that it was alright. live at the filmore is wonderful if you haven't had a chance to catch them live. i saw them open for coheed and it was a memorable experience. they are set to come out with a new album in march, i'm pumped. apparently they released a live dvd too, but i haven't seen it.
Agreed, cactusfrank4 . The first time I ever heard Dredg was live, when they opened for Coheed in 2005 and they were amazing!
anyone that wants to see dredg live i say DO IT!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! absolutely awesome these guys e- freaking- lectrify the stage.
Regardless of their religious preference, I am quite tired of people comparing them to tool...
i dont think they are a christian band, at all. their music is just very sensory and ambient.
I'm impressed with this group and would like to see them perform. They demonstrate a sound filled with artistry and soulful freshness.
Music matters in no way if it is christian or not. The only difference between so-called christian music and everything else is the lyrics. Christian music of course has no cuss or expletive words in it. In no way besides worship rock does the christian genre use religious words or texts in there music do depict a god. Nuff Said! Also I in no way am hating on christian music or affiliates.
I've actually always wondered if they are christians too, saw them live in San Fran, It was definatly a spiritual show.
I saw them when they were in Boston a few weeks ago, and they blew me away.
Only heard a couple songs, but they were very cool songs, can't wait to hear more
I really like how the guitar sounds in songs like planting seeds and other songs on the album. it kind of reminds me of muse =)
bug eyes. 0_o haha. i like them. maybe a little too mainstream, i was expecting to see many more comments on them, but i guess not! hm
