Enigma
Biography
With their 1991 hit "Sadeness," Enigma brought the new age fascination with Gregorian chants and old-world culture to the clubs; the resulting single was both unique and irresistible. The rest of the album followed that pattern successfully, although without quite matching the stunning success of the hit single. On their second album, 1994's Cross of Changes, some of the old-world elements remained, but the new age angle came to the forefront in a set of slick, radio-friendly dance-pop. Enigma 3: Le Roi Est Mort, Vive le Roi followed in 1996. A side project, Trance Atlantic Airwaves, issued The Energy of Sound in 1998. The fourth Enigma record, The Screen Behind the Mirror, followed in early 2000, and in 2003 Voyageur came out. Three years later, A Posteriori was released, followed by Seven Lives Many Faces in 2008. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Great music. Dumb album cover. The macho artwork on it makes me wanna go out and rape and pillage.

Enigma's music is peaceful, tapping into the rhythms of the body as well as ancient rhythms and melodies. It's wonderful for assisting in wiping the mind clear of clutter.

Enigma taps in to the hundreds of years of history, culture, and civilization that we all have stored in us... there is something about their style of music that makes all REMEMBER even though we weren't there, we can all relate to it. It's like it's stored in our genetic code or something.

Deep and enthralling, their music has always been wonderfully arranged, and I will always enjoy any work they have and continue to produce. For any who have not heard their work, I highly recommend.

This is Muzac for the unconcious soul. While your meditating on thoughts of the day, it helps propell you forward in a very soothing way. Kind of like a modern day indian would sing.

I like the song but have no idea how it fits with the station I am listening to. Oh well. I suppose Enya will be next.
I have listened to there music for years and never get tried of hearing their style of music. Hope they keep going.

Age of Innocence! Totaly Awesome! Just blew me away. It is still my all time favorite to this day. . . and Yes I love to smoke pot and listen to this group.
Just want to say that I listened to Enigma while I gave birth to my second child. If you ever want a zen moment, it's then! And it worked, 10 lbs. 3 oz. later, au naturel...

I couldn't tell you what guitarist played on on what album, or which silky voice was on Sadness Part I. What I can say is I'm a huge fan of Enigma and always will be. That said, it took all I had not to stop listening to 7n'7. The previous 2 albums (to me) elevated Enigma to pure genius. I had never heard such control over so many sounds resulting in such beauty, cohesion and power besides an orchestra. 7n'7 gets a thumbs-down and now I have to wait and see if he redeems himself next time.

To Rick Russell: Thanks man. I know where you're comin from. There's not too many can pick up on that frequency. to Mastaton: Just funnin ya man, not puttin ya down. That would be back in the days of Keroac and Ferlingetti and numerous other stuff too far back to mention. Back in those more Bohemian times we were the beats, the beatnicks, post lost generation expatriots in our own country.
To mestaton: Oh wow. You really remember ten years ago? If I could remember, then I never smoked dope. Are you sure you remember ten years ago?
I was smoking dope and listening to Enigma, Dead can Dance and Delerium when they were a debute. That was over a decade ago! How long ago did you stop smoking pot?
Calming, emotional, slick music that makes up a list I simply call 'Nighttime'
I wish Enigma, Dead Can Dance, and of couse Delerium would have been around when I used to smoke dope.
A mix of old world and new age blended in an original way to produce absolutely beautiful thought provoking wonder.
Music for any mood, any feeling and to get you through anything life throws at you...amazin g l y beautiful music!
one blew my mind.. but when I heard two and three they became my all time favorit "new age" artist. I am a true enigma....

Enigma has a way of touching the soul when you need it the most, closeing your eyes and thinking of that place we all want to be where life can be calm and loveing. |
Enigma led me into many other great worlds of musical escape. A distinguisha b l e yet untouchable sound. Gravity of Love still takes my breath away and gives me chills.
Never really could take these guys seriously. For my atmosphere I much prefer Delirium or just about anything else over Enigma.
every album has 1 or 2 songs they can relate too we need more of enigma like grossod3 says ear candie
