Enter the Haggis
Selected Discography
Enterthehagg i s . c o m for more info on the band. Their lives are basically on that website. Every song from their new album (along with a couple other of their latest albums) is available on the site for your free listening pleasure. They are constantly touring, so check them out. Hearing them live is 100x better than recorded. Gutter Anthems is ETHs 7th album: 2 live (Northampton & Live!) and 5 studio (Let the Wind Blow High, Aerials, Casualties of Retail, Soapbox Heroes, & G.A.)

Love them! combines modern with traditional Irish music inh an up-beat, acoustic, and beautiful form. I listen all the time.
Besides Gutter Anthems, they have 3 other albums: Northampton, Live! and Aerials. All should be included here!
I had the good fortune to see this band at a pub in Asheville, NC. It was crowded, it was noisy, and it was worth it. Enter the Haggis is an outstanding band, live or studio. If you ever get the chance to see them, do.

Why hasn't Pandora put on their newest album? Gutter Anthems is very good
Great band. First heard them on Celtic Crush on Sirius Radio. Check out Bagpipes on Mars if you get a chance.
Dem be good like Rastafarians . . . . o n l y different. Love to hear live. They need to follow Dave Munnely(sp?) to Winfield, Ks. and have a week of bliss on stage 5. Anyway, thanks to Pandora for playing them! Too bad they don't play them more, as some have noted. Haven't heard the term Haggis Head before, but I like it. After a thorough personal investigatio n and genetic testing, I think I'm one of them. The things we don't even know...
I absolutely LOVE Enter the Haggis. The way they use a set of bagpipes, rocks my kilt!!!
The group rocks. They have a great website btw and like to stream live stuff. Hard working group them.
They are a great group. If you like them check out the group Celtic Thunder: The Show.
I wish they would hurry and add Gutter Anthems. I'm going into withdraw not hearing Litter and the Leaves.
Old blind dogs is also very good, my favourite band, if you like this tyoe of music.
I did put it in as a song seed, but it still only plays sporadically . I know I should be patient, but I love that song
:-( Just realized Pandora has completely skipped "Aerials", Haggis' 2nd album. They also don't have any songs from the new album yet.
You can put a song seed for Ride My Monster (or any other song) in the Edit Station Details section. It may take a few days, and you'll get other songs like it added to the station, but it will play eventually. That's what I did when my Haggis station wouldn't play Gasoline or Lancaster Gate. |
I am quite the Haggis Head. But Pandora doesn't play Ride My Monster enough! I have it thumbed-up and bookmarked, but it still only plays once every few months! It is quite annoying. But still, Enter the Haggis is awesome.

I would like to disabuse readers of the view expressed by some of the commentators here that haggis is somehow an inedible or repulsive dish served by Scots to outsiders and "unwelcome guests." Like a lot of dishes haggis evokes strong reactions. People seem to either like it quite a lot or hate it. I thoroughly enjoy it and I am an American, not a Scot (though I do claim some ancestry). I strongly recommend both the music of Enter the Haggis and haggis itself.
Oh my... Well, thank you Pandora for bringing together cultures from across the pond. Um, haggis, eh? Sounds a bit like a goulash from hell... :)
Oh, and three cheers for the band- and their sound which is proportional l y as appetizing as the dish isn't! I'm really liking them. |
Haggis is a Scottish dish, considered inedible by almost all people who aren't Scottish, and quite a few who are. There are many recipes, but the basic idea is this: take a sheep's "pluck" (the heart, liver, and lungs), mince them with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with broth, insert in the sheep's (not pig's) stomach, and boil for several hours. Serve to unwelcome guests, with the traditional accompanimen t of "neeps and tatties" (turnips and potatoes).
The band's name comes from a relation to the food haggis. If you aren't familiar, the quick version recipe is to throw just about anything and everything into a sheep, lamb, or pigs stomach (I've seen recipes calling for each), mix it all together, and out comes (according to some people) a great end product. Similarly, ETH combines elements of traditional celtic fare, rock, progressive rock, bluegrass, pop, roots, funk, etc. They mix it all together and out comes an amazingly addictive sound...
....If you have never seen them live, they are a definite must see. Their most recent albums (Casualties of Retail, Soapbox Heroes, and Live at Northampton) while very good don't do their live shows any justice. And just recently announced, their new album Gutter Anthems is finally finished and is already getting rave reviews. It is set to be released March 24th.

also listening to: BeauSoleil, Bela Fleck, Leo Kottke, Nick Drake, folksy tunes.
So, I understand there's a joke in their name? Can anyone help a State-side yankee get in on the meaning?
fiddle players favors Ashley MacIsaac. nice sound, they can add another fan in me.

I went to Ireland with them this March and with The Elders and had an excellent time. They played at the Kansas City Irish Fest 3 years ago where I first saw them and was blown and away and been a fan ever since.
I saw them at Milwaukee Irishfest, and that was a lot of fun. They know how to put on a show for sure. The name is a little ridiculous though... haha
Saw them in September at Cincinnati Celtic Fest - not much of a crowd as I don't think too many midwesterner s know of them (I didn't either.) They put on a fantastic show. Am craving another concert and even considering a road trip.
