Fair To Midland
Biography
Formed in 1998 in Sulphur Springs, TX, prog metal band Fair to Midland are vocalist Darroh Sudderth, guitarist Cliff Campbell, bassist Jon Dicken, drummer Brett Stowers, and keyboardist Matt Langley. After two independently released records (The Carbon Copy Silver Lining EP in 2001 and Inter. Funda. Stifle in 2004), the band caught the attention of System of a Down's Serj Tankian, who signed them to his label, Serjical Strike, in April 2006. The Drawn and Quartered EP, featuring demo and live tracks, arrived later that year. Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True, with production from David Bottrill (Tool, King Crimson), was released in June 2007. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, All Music Guide
Selected Discography
For anyone who has not heard the four leaked demos from these guys yet, listen to them, they're definitely FTM at their best. Thedemos are: "Musical Chairs," "A Loophole in Limbo," "Bright Bulbs and Sharp Tools," and "Rikki-Tikki - T a v i . "

FTM have become one of my favorite bands of all time. You have to see them live to fully appreciate them, Sudderth really can sign that range virtually pitch perfect, all while hanging upside down. So much energy. It's not the same old crap on the radio, it's technically interesting and the songs stick with you. Props to every member of this band.

One of my absolute favorite bands!!! Their sound is amazing and unique. I don't think you can truly appreciate FTM til you see them live. I say this only because I have seen them 4 times, first time was back in 2005, and they never get old. Can't wait for the new album!!

inter was a tad disappointin g (but orphan anthem made up for that) but u need to give carbon copy silver lining a listen. anyone who was a fan of what they did on DOTM will love it.and ofcourse, Fables kicked @$$. lke i said, album coming out this year, new songs already being premiered live!

I agree metalpayne, I agree. awesome album and live: they were off the walls: literally! it takes some warming up to but most different music always does

I've listened to the album, and it's the only one where I've actually listened to the whole album and loved it. It takes a while to love all the songs, but the vocalist is what makes the band amazing. Their previous albums sucked (before Fables from A Mayfly) I think, but Fables From A Mayfly was utterly amazing. A 10 out of 10 for this. I hope they come out with more albums. Just don't listen to Inter.funda. It blowed.

I guess I'm the only one left unimpressed with what I heard......" t h e walls of jericho"

Love it, love it, love it. This is wonderful. I can't stop listening to this album. I wish the radio played good music...
best frickin' band ever! it's a shame they don't get any radio play. new album's supposed to be out in 2009. can't wait!
Favorite Band! These guys have great live shows and are the s**t any way you listen to them. Beautiful work
This band is fantastic if you are considering buying their cd, do it, between the haunting use of a nautical style of music mixed with progressive metal and there intense lyrics full of mysticism and poeticism they are one of the best bands out of Texas in years
THIS BAND IS FREAKING AWESOME!! hooked from the first song! =D =D Thank you Serj for finding these guys and bringing them out to the public's view
Favorite band ever.. this is true music. If u ever have a chance spread this band around. Ive shown like 50 people.
Just now heard them, and my initial reaction to the album can be summed up in one sentence. This is what music is all about
My mom used to say this saying alot Fair to Midland . I never knew just what the hell that meant, but the band is fantastic, It is great to hear a fresh band. I really like them
For someone who has been out of the metal, and progressive rock scene since the days of his youth (10 years and counting, although original prog. rock predates me) these guys have left me perplexed. There is still a shred of hope left in a genre that lost it's sense of individualit y many years ago. "Fables From A Mayfly" is absolutely incredible, and a must listen for anyone who used to have any association to this now lost cause of a scene.

This C.D. is easiestly the best on Itunes. Fair to Midland makes every other band seem like amatuers. If you like Tool or The Mars Volta, or just really good rock music, Fair to Midland will not disappoint. Also, as good as their C.D. is, they are even BETTER live!!! I strongly recommend seeing them!
good band if you can handle some of Darroh's higher vocals, kinda like rush and geddy lee
I remember discovering this band as they made their way through the Dallas music scene. Amazing live shows, dedicated fans, and great music has connected me with this band, I hope they continue to make great music for years to come. Their first EP, I purchased at the release party at the Galaxy Club back in 2001, The Carbon Copy Silver Lining is one of the best CDs I have ever had the privilege of listening to.
My second favorite bands, one of the best out there. As said before, Darroh's vocals are amazing with stunning range. It's my current obsession!
Wow, what a voice Darroh Sudderth has. Interesting use of different instuments in their songs too. Great band.
Easily one of the best bands currently out there. Darroh Sudderth is an amazing vocalist. First heard some of their stuff here on Pandora and bought IFS a few years back, and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Now, if only I could get my hands on The Carbon Copy Silver Lining...
