Fireflight
Biography
Beginning in 2006, upon signing to Flicker Records after a couple independent releases, Fireflight became one of the most popular bands on Christian rock radio. The female-fronted band's style of rock is fairly heavy, bordering on metal, and is reminiscent of other popular female-fronted rock bands of the time, such as Paramore and Evanescence. The band is based in Orlando, FL, and tours the United States extensively, reportedly performing an estimated 140 shows per year. Founded in Eustis, FL, in 1999, Fireflight are comprised of Dawn Richardson (vocals), Justin Cox (guitar), Glenn Drennen (guitar), Wendy Drennen (bass), and Phee Shorb (drums). The band independently recorded and released its debut album, Glam-Rok (2002), produced by guitarist Justin Cox. The five-track EP On the Subject of Moving Forward followed in 2004, leading to a recording contract offer from Flicker Records. The band's first Flicker release, The Healing of Harms (2006), was produced by Skidd Mills and became a major hit in the Christian rock community, reaching number 37 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. The album spawned a pair of Christian rock radio hit singles, "You Decide" and "Waiting," the latter of which reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. The band's second Flicker release, Unbreakable (2008), proved even more popular. Produced by Rob Hawkins, it reached number 15 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and spawned another big Christian rock radio hit in the title track. Promoted via the Bionic Woman television series, "Unbreakable" peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

Thank you so much, Pandora, for finally adding Unbreakable to the Music Genome Project.
More than a Love Song and Liar feat. Dave Pelsue of Kids in the Way are their best songs... They are really good live too, ive seen them love 4 times and have even hung out with them during and after the shows. They are really good people.

I love the song "You Decided (feat.Josh Brown)" its really good. Vocals are really good and the rhythm is really good and I like the lyrics.
I love this band. I just started getting back into Christian bands. Unbreakable is an amazing song.

Evanescence was classified with Flyleaf and Fireflight?? ? I classify them more by their rating on my gloom-o-mete r .
Lacey from Flyleaf has a very distinctive voice, but listening to Flyleaf's acoustic songs, you can tell that she does not sing as well as the singer from FireFlight.
Fly Leaf and Fire Flight vocals sound similar but Fire Flight, Fly Leaf and Evanescence don't sound the same if you compare bands but vocals sound similar.
I agree with speckay. I don't think they're very similar to each other at all. I think Ev has a way heavier sound than Flyleaf and Fireflight, for one thing. But yeah, I like all three bands, as well.
I really don't consider Fireflight, Flyleaf, and Evanescence to be as close together as people make them out to be.
I like each one for their own individual sound. |
This is good music to sing along to while I'm cleaning my house kind of get up and move music. :^)
The former commenters obviously don't have much experience in music (no offense, I mean it's not your expertise). Yes, Flyleaf and Evenescence have similar sound, But this is more well-done than both of those bands, the members play better together, and the singer is better than Flyleaf's.
Meh... didn't Flylevanesce n c e already do this sound? It's not that bad, it's just not that good either.
the only thing worse than whiny white chick music is whiny white guy music
I love fireflights you decide. That is a great song and this is a great band to listen to.
Thanks so much Pandora for sharing this artist with me. They're definitely one of my favorite bands. They remind me of Within Temptation, Avril Lavigne, Evanscence, Flyleaf, Paramore...a l l the good ones

Holy crap.
Their new album, Unbreakable, is AWESOME! I like the song "Stand Up." It's my favorite. |
i loooove this band.
its like flyeaf, for flyleaf freaks. yeahh. and both are coming this moth to my cityy. flyleaf on the 22. and fireflight on the 28th :> veryyyyyyy excited!! |
Yes, they do have a website, its
http://www.f i r e f l i g h t r o c k . c o m / They are still working on it though. |
Does anyone know if FireFlight has a home website besides their Myspace page? I searched for one but couldn't find it for some reason.
Wow...I didn't even notice Fireflight was a Christian rock band until I read the comments on here. I like that they get their message across without sounding cheesy, like a lot of gospel music.
This is a nice hybrid of Flyleaf and Linkin Park! (I think that's how you spell it)
Actually, they were around before Paramore who also borrowed their sound from mad pop rock bands.
