Floater
Biography
Eugene, OR-based art-metal trio Floater was formed in 1993 by singer/bassist Robert Wynia and drummer Peter Cornett, who'd previously teamed in the group Henry's Child; recruiting guitarist David Amador, they quickly recorded a six-song demo that caught the attention of indie label Elemental, releasing their debut LP Sink in 1994. Glyph followed a year later, notching a major local hit with "The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy"; production issues delayed the release of Floater's third album 1998's Angels in the Flesh and Devils in the Bone, and a year later the group released a live record, The Great Release. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Floater Rocks! Saw 'em live at the Britt Ballroom on the SOU campus back in my college years. They are in their own category of goodness!

I tried doing a search on Pandora for these guys awhile ago and got no results. To bad more people haven't heard of them. This is one of the few bands that actually got heavier with time. Love'em. Y am I not suprised that Pandora doesn't have their first album listed in the discography? I think it was self titled.

seen these guys live at least 30 or 40 times in pdx between 1996 and 2006. even sent me a copy of Acoustics when i was in africa for a bit in 2004. one of my favorite bands of all time. and they love us. if they were in it for the money, they could have gone that way a long time ago. see the lyrics to Hollywood. along with We're All Gonna Die on the east coast, Floater is metal gold, buried deep in the underground. rob is one of the best bassists of all time, up there with burton and claypool.

Floater is by far one of the greatest "underground i s h " rock bands out there. Excellent live performances , deep story-tellin g lyrics, and intense energy in everything they do. I've seen both the electric and acoustic sets. Each thing they put out has its own unique style. i put all of their albums on shuffle and get a different feel with every song . One of my top 5 all-time favorite bands!

Every single person who has left a comment so far knows what they are talking about. Trust me. Floater is the best modern rock band there is. Their songs actually have depth, and meaning. I often compare them to a modern/heavy Pink Floyd and The Doors. SEE THEM LIVE IF YOU CAN!!!

I've been a fan of Floater since the days of them performing at the EMU Beer Garden on Friday afternoons. Definitely worth paying attention to, and if you get the chance, well worth the price of admission to see.
