Front Line Assembly
Biography
Front Line Assembly was the best known of the various electronic music projects undertaken by the prolific Vancouver-based duo of Bill Leeb (vocals, synthesizers) and Rhys Fulber (synthesizers, samplers). After working in the mid-'80s under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder with Skinny Puppy, the Austrian-born Leeb formed the industrial/techno-based Front Line Assembly in 1986 with Fulber -- who initially joined on as a studio assistant -- and synth player Michael Balch. After a handful of compilation appearances and cassette-only releases, Front Line Assembly issued its first three full-length efforts -- The Initial Command, State of Mind, and Corrosion -- on a monthly basis between December 1987 and February 1988. Later in 1988, Corrosion, a subsequent mini-album titled Disorder, and a number of exclusive bonus tracks were compiled and released as Convergence.
In 1989, the group returned with the album Gashed Senses & Crossfire, which contained the dance-flavored singles "Digital Tension Dementia" and "No Limit." A European tour in support of the record yielded a live album -- titled simply Live -- that was released and deleted on the same day in a limited edition of 4,000 pressings.

I agree that the old stuff is just as good as the new stuff or is it that the new stuff is just as good as the old? Makes no difference to me. Love Front Line!

How many bands can boast 20 years of *good* music, let alone an industrial band. Front Line and Skinny Puppy, although Front Line has been more consistent and regular in continuing to release music. Caustic Grip, Virus, Tactical Neural Implant are incredible, and yet Millennium, Total Terror and Hard Wired don't fail to impress.

Maniacal, Backlash, Beneath the Rubble, Electric Dreams, Prophecy, and a few others are simply golden.

kind of hit or miss for me on some of the songs. but i was just listening to back lash and thats diffenitely a hit.

One of the best industrial pioneers of all time. Millennium, Hard Wired, and Tactical Neural Implant are some of the best albums. Everyone needs to get a copy of "Live Wired" (live footage, interviews, videos) which has been one of my strongest influences as an industrial musician for 20 years now.

Front Line Assembly, wether you love or hate them, will always be in a group with VNV Nation, Velvet Acid Christ, NIN, Juno Reactor, Ministry and Skinny Puppy in the forefront of modern Industrial.

I have pretty much all there releases. I don't get into many other industrial bands, I can't get past FLA. I liked fear factory before I found FLA then realized the connection.

I grew up as a heavy metal freak, but I've always appreciated good industrial. My definition of good, of course, requires loud, fast and crunchy (as you might expect of a metal-head) and since the first time I heard TNI, I've considered FLA the best of industrial. Seeing them at a club is a must - the mosh-pit was more brutal than a Slayer show. (The Palace in LA: FLA, Switchblade Symphony (why, god, why? f**king whiny goth crap), Spahn Ranch, and Kevorkian Death Cycle...tast y ! )

FLA is the best true digital Industrial music out there. I saw them recently and they're just as good now as when I first saw them almost 15 years ago (gettin old). Very influential to my over all music taste. In fact if it wasn't for FLA I never would have gotten into Fear Factory :)

TNI is early 90s industrial at its' absolute best. What can be better? Though there recent releases are more of the same old same old predictable format I still have a place in my collection for them.

FLA is industrial music. For them to be as cutting edge in the movement as they are for as long as it's been really shows that there is no other band like them. The last two decades have been dominated by them. Long live the kings!

Simply the BEST industrial act EVER!!! You need to hear these guys as INTERMIX, DELERIUM, DOUBTING THOMAS, WILL, SYNEAESTESIA , NOISE UNIT, CYBERAKTIF, PRO-TEC and CRYOGENIC (all psuedonyms - same guys)

i love theese guys ive been into them ever since their first release and since then they just keep getting better ive yet to see them in concert but im sure they will come to me soon i f**kin hope!
