Gaelic Storm
Biography
Even before releasing an LP, the Santa Monica, California-based Celtic group Gaelic Storm -- vocalist/accordionist Patrick Murphy, bodhran player Steve Wehmeyer, guitarist/mandolinist Steve Twigger, fiddler Samantha Hunt and djembe player Shep Lonsdale -- left an impression on audiences worldwide through their appearance as the "steerage band" entertaining immigrant third-class passengers in James Cameron's blockbuster film epic Titanic. The unprecedented success of the movie brought Gaelic Storm to the attention of the Higher Octave label, which in 1998 issued the group's self-titled LP. Herding Cats followed a year later and Tree appeared in spring 2001. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Saw these guys live in Hartford, CT. They were awesome. Great tunes and better entertainmen t . The make me want to fight Russell Crowe, too.

Great compilation of albums. Need to check out the newest. Hopefully Pandora will rotate more of their songs (duh...guess I need to create or add to a station!)
Gaelic Storm will be in Oshkosh Wis. 5-30-09 at oshkosh's first ever Irish fest. Come and experience the great music and fun of a Storm Warning. Oshkosh is bringing out the big Guns for thier first time out.

Yeah, we still need Bring Yer Wellies, that's my favorite album! I'm not sure I'm such a fan of Pandora's algorithms for deciding artist and song similarities , but it's better than anything else out there so it'll do for now.
Holy crap! We're up to a whopping four albums! There are some omissions of course, but it sure beats going entirely off of Tree. Maybe on the next go-'round they'll add Bring Yer Wellies, and update the bio.
I love this group, but what in the world I have been listening to this station for 2 hours now and have only heard 3 of their songs! Stop playing all the other crap and play their music. Why do you think I wanted this station?!?!? ! ? !
wheres the rest of their albums? they are fantastic. i've seen them twice now and i cant wait til the next time they come 'round
great music! love it! I love your Irish melodies. I've had it on all afternoon and I can't get enough!
Gaelic Storm has several albums and they are all fantastic; please add the others to Pandora. You just wouldn't believe how amazing this band is- saw them in concert twice in '08.
Thanks |
Jeez 2001........ . I saw them at a festival around Asheville/NC 2006.
Even that biography is pretty half-assed. Makes it sound like GS fell off the planet after '01.
I, too, am disappointed that Pandora does not have more Gaelic Storm. The band has multiple releases, including a fantastic cd that came out this past summer, and went to #1 on Billboard. Come on, Pandora! Get with the program!
I am rather disappointed that Pandora does not have more of Gaelic Storm's albums. They have so much great music that I think deserves to be heard.
Yeah, what's with pandora having only *ONE* of gaelic storm's many amazing albums? What about Bring 'yer Wellies, What's the Rumpus, How Are We Getting Home Again? or Herding Cats?
I wish Pandora would list more of their music! I really like the Tree cd, but it would be nice to hear more. :)
does anyone know where i can get the titanic set? it's not on the soundtrack. *sighs mournfully*

I Just saw Gaelic Storm perform in Charlotte, NC on July 17th 2008... W O W !!! I've seen quite a lot of bands in concert from as far back as 1968 and have been a Classic Rock Fan and performer for most of those years. I now have all 7 of their CD's. Gaelic Storm's stage presence and connection with the audience is the most exciting thing I've seen to come along since Jethro Tull (over 30 Albums and counting)!!! May Gaelic Storm have as long a run!!!!!!!
Incredible Live Band. Musical Ability combined with humourous stage presence.
I just saw them at Irishfest in La Crosse, WI!!!
They were amazing! This kind of music is so much better live! ...and with a couple of Guinness'!!! |
Listening to their song 'Thirsty Work' - Great stuff! Wish I could see them live... will keep on wishing, I guess! Very fun to listen to, good energy.
I love the djembe in the background- it takes some skill to play that instrument- I have one, and I should know. It's not as easy as just patting on a drum- he does a good job at it. |
Saw Gaelic Storm at the Colorado Irish Festival and was blown away. As others have said, if you get the chance, see them perform.
Just saw Gaelic Storm live for my fourth time. These guys are one of the best concert bands you will *ever* see! You MUST see them LIVE.
Gaelic Storm is wonderful, I saw them live at my university and it was very exciting! They make everyone in the crowd get up and dance! You can't leave the concert without feeling exhilarated! Any opportunity you have to go see them perform you should not pass up.
Gaelic Storm has several outstanding albums out. Is it a licensing issue that prevents them from being listed on Pandora?
I do like this music & song, this young lady has a great voice. Hello everyone. I hope to hear more of this type of music. I do not like music that isn't soothing to my spirit...Oke '
If you ever get a chance to see Gaelic Storm live it is a wonderful experience. They really engage their audience and have great energy! They tour regularly and I've seen them live a half a dozen times and eagerly look forward to every chance I get. Their new album "Bring Yer Wellies" is great!
