Georgie Auld came up in the Big Band era, I think with Benny Goodman, mostly a Coleman Hawkins influenced guy.....I don't think I ever heard him do an extended ballad like this one. Nice. Big tone. Nothing revelatory on the improvising side, but then, the tone is enough.

Could this be the same Georgie Auld that I saw in Korea in 1952? His band was part of a USO show and featured June Christie. The show was done in a tent located very near a combat zone in the Army 10th Corp area and was nothing short of fantastic. Andy onadirtrd@co m c a s t . n e t .
