Biography
Belgian indie pop outfit Girls in Hawaii formed in 2000 around the talents of sibling pairs Antoine and Denis Wielemans and Lionel and Brice Vancauwenberghe, along with friends Christophe Léonard and Daniel Offerman. The group's heady blend of neo-psychedelic pop and alternative rock drew comparisons to Grandaddy, the Flaming Lips, and Blonde Redhead in the French media, and by 2002 the band had signed with Brussels-based 62TV Records. Girls in Hawaii released Found in the Ground: The Winter EP and the full-length From Here to There in 2003, followed by Plan Your Escape in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

Heh, well, actually, they're from Belgium and with 62TV Records, distributed by Bang! Music, though China Shop Music released From Here To There in the United States. Girls in Hawaii have just released a new album entitled Plan Your Escape in Europe.

There is no bio on this band, and I'm too lazy to google them. So I'm going to make something up: The members of Girls in Hawaii originally met while attending a high school in the Georgetown area of Washington DC in 1979. Later they relocated to Chicago where the legendary producer Steve Albini produced two of their records. After signing with a major label, their relationship cooled with Albini and the band soon called it quits. The singer is now an accountant.
