Great Lake Swimmers
Biography
Featuring a homespun blend of acoustic instruments, rural soundscapes, and wistful vocals, Great Lake Swimmers are led by songwriter/vocalist Tony Dekker. The Toronto-based group's haunting, self-titled debut was recorded in a silo in Ontario and originally released in Canada by Weewerk Records in 2003. Misra Records picked up the record and released it stateside in April 2005. Great Lake Swimmers' second release, Bodies and Minds, was issued in August 2005, followed in 2007 by Ongiara (whose winsome leadoff track, "Your Rocky Spine," boosted the band's profile when it appeared on the soundtrack of Showtime's Weeds). ~ David Serra, All Music Guide
