Hammerfall
Biography
Following their formation in 1993, Hammerfall underwent numerous personnel changes before settling on their current lineup, which includes principal songwriters Joachim Cans (vocals) and Oscar Dronjak (guitars). In Flames skinbeater Jesper Stromblad contributed to their debut, although Patrick Rafling replaced him soon after. Since the release of their debut Glory to the Brave in 1997, Hammerfall have become one of the toasts of the Eurometal scene, residing in Germany's Top 100 for over two months, with Glory dubbed Album of the Year by Rock Hard magazine. The Swedish rockers have also played numerous metal fests, including the Wacken Open Air Festival; they returned in 1999 with the EP I Want Out. Renegade was issued a year later. ~ Bryan Reesman, All Music Guide

Excellent song by an excellent band. Hammerfall is a great traditional metal band.\m/\m/

If you look at the actual score of a band's work, which is extremely hard to come by, you'll see that most of the things a band writes is very different from their other works...
Besides, if you find a scheme that works for you, why change? Most bands don't when they find their "groove". Its what keeps bands jamming and pumpin out awesome songs... |
You know why you think you're hearing the same thing? Cause all you hear from them is "Awesomeness " 8) ...
After listening to more of their stuff, it seems like the same thing over and over again. A lot of their songs sound reeeeeeally similar, the guitar and drum parts especially.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is an extremely talented group of musicians who do what they do really well, but I'd like to hear something new from them. |
I made a station for TTFATF and I kept getting stuff by these guys and wow they are good. =)
hey, i liked this band before they were cool
check out the videos of One crimson night on youtube, they're amazing!!!!! ! ! ! !
These guys kill me... They're absolutely amazing! I am so glad Pandora introduced me to this band, keeping 80s style metal totally alive!

If you like Hammerfall you will like Pegazus, or even the more mainstream metal of Dragonforce. Hammerfall is definitely one band I will have to look further into. All these bands are very reminicent of the ever impressive and story telling, Iron Maiden.
Are their songs a group of stories? When Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken came up on one of my stations, I had to check it out. I am a vivid fan of all stories turned music whether they are Coheed and Cambria or even Dio. HammerFall has wonderfully hard music that I could see myself listening to, even loving if it is what I believe it is.

hammerfall kicks a**!songs get stuck in my head. dragonforce? bonjovi on vocals funks up the metal for me.each to their own
Manowar has their name in a lot of their songs. If you kick a** you get to do that.
Are you sure the song is named after them, instead of the fall of a hammer?
Is just me, or do they seem kind of...arrogan t ? I mean, who names a song after the band?
Great chorus band, you know bands that have kick a** chorus that you can't help but sing along. To bad they just lost one of there guitarist.
Aw, man, the VOCAL CORDS on this guy... man... Impressive.. . Solid songwriting, but I think the vocals stand out especially.
Hmm, maybe the difference between automatic metal and stick-shift metal??? LOL!
For my money Hammerfall is one of the few bands keeping the old-school metal style alive. As a result they've become legends in their own time.
So, stop all of the silly comparisons to Dragonforce. Hammerfall takes a completely different approach to the power-metal genre. |
Hammerfall is an excellent metal band that actually made it through the 90s well. Even more impressive, they've stuck to real metal through and through. Forming a decent metal band was hard in the 90s, but Hammerfall pulled it off, and pulled it off well.
Also, in my opinion, a much better band than Dragonforce. Something about Dragonforce. . . I don't know...I just can't stand them. |
