Biography
Following their formation in 1993, Hammerfall underwent numerous personnel changes before settling on their current lineup, which includes principal songwriters Joachim Cans (vocals) and Oscar Dronjak (guitars). In Flames skinbeater Jesper Stromblad contributed to their debut, although Patrick Rafling replaced him soon after. Since the release of their debut Glory to the Brave in 1997, Hammerfall have become one of the toasts of the Eurometal scene, residing in Germany's Top 100 for over two months, with Glory dubbed Album of the Year by Rock Hard magazine. The Swedish rockers have also played numerous metal fests, including the Wacken Open Air Festival; they returned in 1999 with the EP I Want Out. Hammerfall is the s**t! I decided to go buy one of their albums recently, and I stupidly bought "Steel Meets Steel : Ten Years of Glory".... Don't get me wrong, it's a good album - but its full of songs I've heard a million times already lol I'm thinking about buying "No Sacrifice, No Victory" because the only two songs I've ever heard from it are "Life is Now" and "Legion"...

The artwork for their album covers was actually drawn by Samwise Didier, who does an overwhelming majority of the artwork for World of WarCraft. I believe he's a friend of one of the members, and is a huge fan of their's.

Further listening has shifted my impression of Hammerfall into the 'definitely awesome' category.

I'm still mulling over how much I actually like Hammerfall, but at least one of their songs has merited ye olde thumbs up so far, so that's promising.

We like mellow Euro-Metal. It is a kind of
Pop Metal you will probably ride more elevators on in the future. Ozzy elevator music, shows an expansion of the market and the world peoples ears. |

Hammerfall always seemed like a Manowar knock off to me, but that's about a million times better than Godsmack and all the other false metal losers out today.
