Idina Menzel
Biography
Best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway smash Rent, singer/actress Idina Menzel made her solo debut in 1998 with the pop-soul effort Still I Can't Be Still. The joined the cast Wicked in 2003 and appeared on the cast recording that same year, while 2004 saw her releasing the album Here. The following year, Menzel appeared on the soundtrack to the television show Desperate Housewives, and a duet with Ray Charles (which the pair had recorded back in 1998) found its way onto the tribute album Genius & Friends. In 2007, a dance version of Wicked's "Defying Gravity" became Menzel's first club hit. Something about her reminds me of "Jacques Brelle Alive and Well and Living in Paris". Love the lyrics and her showtune, straight ahead voice. Very refreshing and elevating.

I saw her in concert promoting her new album and she sings with every ounce of her being. You can tell she really feels every note of every song and channels that to the audience. She is gorgeous and amazing! I loved her PBS special too!

She is absolutley amazing. She connects to people on a level that I have never experienced with another artist. I can listen to her all day and never get tired of any of the songs.

idina is the most wonderful artist I have ever seen or heard. When I discovered her performance in the musical Wicked i almost fell over. I've never seen someone so beautiful, commited, and talented. I hope to be someone like her one day. She is my inspiration. NO ONE MOURNS THE WICKED. Her new album is a great success,I listen to it everyday and everyday I fall in love with her all over again.

Her voice is amazing! I have heard her as Alphaba in Wicked, and as Maureen Johnson in Rent. I have the remixes done for Wicked and Gorgeous and it just amazes me how much power comes from inside. Every time I hear any of her stuff, by the end of the song I'm tearing up. One time while hearing Fighting Gravity from Wicked, I started crying so hard I had to pull over and sat there until the song finished. That's power!

She did have a song that she sang with James, but it was cut from the movie, and it didn't make it onto the soundtrack. At least, that's the rumor I heard. And, apparently, she was offered the part of Nancy, which at the time didn't require any singing, and she said she was flattered that they wanted her for her acting talent alone.
But I DO wish she'd had a song! I love her voice so much more than Amy Adams'. Not that she's not great too, I just like Idina's voice better. |

She was hilarious in "Enchanted" (McDreamy's girlfriend). I didn't recognize her until well into the movie. I just wish she'd had some chance to sing.

love. her. i am a fellow theatre lover and rent is my fav musical! wicked is also at the top of my list. she defies gravity as she jumps over the moon!
