Jesse Cook
Biography
Canadian rumba flamenco artist Jesse Cook has blended the exotic Spanish music form with elements of new age, jazz, and easy listening on his releases for Narada Records. Signed to the label in 1994, he produced his debut, Tempest, one year later. Gravity, released in 1996, hit the Top Ten on the new age charts. Two years following, Vertigo was released and Free Fall appeared in mid-2000. In 2003 Nomad came out, followed by the live album Montréal in 2004. Though it was started conceptually in 2005, Cook didn't issue his next studio album, Frontiers, which marked a return to his initial simpler production style, until 2007. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

We heard him in concert in Austin Texas a couple of years ago and he
and his band members were terrific. One of the world's best guitarists. |

I love the variety of music he plays. I discovered his music about 2 years ago and listen to it almost every day. As soon as I found out he was in concert I went to go see him. He is AWESOME!!!

Jesse Cook is not the greatest flamenco guitar player ever, but he is probably my favorite flamenco artist, which I will explain. For raw athleticism, look to Rick and Mark del Castillo, and perhaps Armik. For smooth sensuality, I agree with the previous poster who gave a shout out to Oscar Lopez. But for my anglo ear, I have always liked Jesse Cook, who seems to capture the rhythms, melodies, and spirit I like. "Gravity," and "Freefall" are my favorites. I saw him play live in Annapolis, MD.

I first saw him live in 1998 and catch his live performances whenever he's in town--met him too! He's a gracious and talented artist.
If you like this, I suggest that you find some music by Oscar Lopez. I think he may have the fastest hands on a guitar ever. Try the album "Heat".

ive added JC to the list of my favorites of Flamenco/Sev i l l a n a style music.

One of the best. I wish he would tour the States in more venues... I listen to Jesse as often as I can. At the top of my list of Flamenco-sty l e guitarists.
Fantastic Artist, I have everything he has done. I would go to his concert if he played in my area. I really like his track "Bagdad".
I wouldn't call his music easy listening. He packs some creative licks and awesome guitar work in a different genre. He's on the top of my CD list.
Have loved him since I discovered him. I get high on his music. I do agree with robert, and would prefer no vocals on Frontiers.
I was so jazzed when I heard him on my favorite smooth station, and love his style. Sweet!
I prefer he not include the vocals found on the later cuts on "Fontiers".

This artist is one of my favorit, his music is so moving. I have loved flamenco music all my life. I had training in flamenco dancing.
