John is my cousin and I have gone to see him play numerous times when we both lived in NYC and I was in awe after each performance.

Years ago, I saw John Doyle (with Liz Carroll) as a warm-up act to Lunasa. Hadn't heard of him, at the time--but I immediately sat up straight to watch a commanding performer. His is probably the best Celtic guitar (sometimes accompanying his fluid baritone). Now I see him unfailingly, whenever he's in town. Understated, self-effacin g perfection. He lets his music speak for itself. Just wow.

john is my uncle he is an amazing person and an amazing musician that can play a wide variety of musical instrements very well.

I must take issue with Nolan L., I find his (Doyle's) vocals to be evocative and entirely suited to the style of his music. (Pretty damn good guitarist as well!) As to jbnibler, what a putz.. (I'm certain you could 'stop it' by placing a medium size plastic bag over your head and waiting 8 minutes..)

not my favorite singer but the best damn guitar player in traditional irish music. he has a few nice songs though.
