Jon Schmidt
Biography
Classical style new age composer and pianist Jon Schmidt was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were German immigrants with a taste for classical music. Schmidt performed in piano recitals at the age of eight. Before he was in his teens, he began to compose music of his own, could easily play "Mozart Sonatas," and had appeared on stage with his musician father often. Schmidt's classical training lasted for over a decade. At 16 the roles changed, and he became a piano teacher. He was in his early twenties when he turned his full attention toward a musical career. In 1991 Jon Schmidt independently released a superb debut album, August End. After signing with Aubergine Records, he recorded a sophomore offering, Walk in the Woods, in 1993. It was followed a year later by A Day in the Sunset, Jon Schmidt Christmas in 1997, and then To the Summit in 2000. The latter was released under Schmidt's own label, JSP Productions. "Heart of a Child," "Winter Wind," "Song of the Ocean," "Waterfall," and "Homecoming" are some of the inspiring tracks new age fans will find on Schmidt's albums. He also performs live at many major concert halls, and has worked with a number of other artists, including David Arkenstone, John Tesh, Kurt Bestor, Lex de Azevedo, and Peter Breinholt. Besides his wonderful albums, Schmidt also writes sheet music and music books, such as New Age Classical Piano Solos, Vol. 1. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide

When I heard his song Pachelbel meets U2 I wasn't looking at the screen, and I said, that sounds like two songs in one. Sure enough I wasn't going crazy. What a brilliant blend, I am going to buy one or two of Schmidt's music now. Very nice, relaxing music.

I absolutely love his soft peaceful music, played so simply and so quietly. Whenever I hear it, my soul is comforted and my outlook on life is uplifted.

The one thing I would have to say why I like his music, to me, it's from the heart. He realy puts alot of consntration in his songs. But at the same time, he puts his family first. He's said that he dosn't want to go on tour arount the country cuz he dosn't want to to have his family live that kind of life. My Grandma use to baby sit his kids back when he put out his first CD. They still keep in touchas far as I know. But ya, he's realy down to earth. His music says it all.

I really enjoy listening to all his music. Waterfall is my favorite but all of them are wonderful to listen to.
This is my favorite piano player. I can not get tired of listening to him. :) I think my favorite song of his is "Tribute" on his cd "Walk In The Words".
I love him. He is very soothing to listen to and has piano key combos that are marvelous. Also, love his Christianity sprinkled throughout-- p u t s me in that worshipful mood.
Thank-you for making the Piano come alive. Your music brings peace and a sense of spirituality even if it's not focused on Christ. Truly you've found the talent that God gave you.

He came to a youth activity to play for us! He is sooo Good!
I love this guy! |

Jon's not only a wonderful pianist, but a great entertainer. I heard him in an outdoor concert a couple of years ago and it was incredible! He can play some of the most beautiful, serious music, and then be laying on the piano bench, playing upside down! Loved it!!!
As soon as I heard "Cherished Moments", I was hooked. Beautiful music, what a wonderful artist. I hope to be able to hear him in concert some day.
August End was the first instrumental album that my wife enjoyed listening to. Normally avoiding them completely. I've always been a fan of Jon's talent. Winter Serenade is exquisite!
