Kamelot
Biography
Formed in 1991, the American metal outfit Kamelot did not record its debut album, Eternity, until four years later; Dominion followed shortly thereafter. For 1998's Siege Perilous, the band revamped its lineup, adding drummer Casey Grillo and ex-Conception vocalist Roy Kahn to veterans Thomas Youngblood, David Pavlicko, and Glenn Barry; Fourth Legacy appeared in early 2000.The album was quickly followed by the limited edition CD, Expedition in mid September. In May of 2001, Karma was released as their fifth regular album. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

@Plague:I'll have to try that band. Thanks for the tip!

As much as I like Kamelot, I think there're a lot of better power metal bands out there. Like Theocracy, which also happens to be from America.
WOW, I thought this was some Queensryche track I forgot about !
This guy sounds like Geoff Tate and the driving tune does also ( both compliments !! ) |
i heard a slower paced song by them, with a gentler feel, and it was really nice(not that their faster stuff isnt good too). roy khan DOES have a nice voice!
I really like Kamelot - it's one of the very few American metal acts I deem worth listening to (huzzah for Euro-metal and a few bands from South America!). Listening to them I would never have guessed they were an American band if I hadn't read the bio (this is a good thing in my book).
Of course, that could just be because Roy Kahn is Norwegian and Pandora doesn't have much of the pre-Siege Perilous discography up. |
interesting lyrics + awesome vocals (love Kahn's voice!) make Kamelot one of my favorite finds off my Nightwish station.

I like KamelTOE and Phoenix to bring me boys! |

Plaque, instead of a sammich make me some of that ice cream you had the other day its my favorite.... o h h and forget the spoon I wanna fork!
Only while listening to Kamelot of course. LOL |
Whatever happened to the "He who makes the most money selling stuff, wins" argument you had there TGS?
GTFO here p**sy a** posers. This is good s**t here. It reminds me orNightwish a little bit which isn't a bad thing. I would suggest to them though, dropping the f**king price of their gear, it's f**king waaaay over priced and we can't be dropping all kinds of benjamins on that s**t. Please remember that we earn the money, you make the songs and we buy ths s**t so it is a two way f**king street.

Real men can make their own damn sammich if their woman isn't around...and chivalrous men offer to make their woman a sammich.

@Roonil: LOL. Good one. I knew there was something I liked about you.

willow must be really bored. all the time. especialy if he has nothing better to do than post crap on artists pages, and type whatever it is he wants to say backwards. why dont you find another hobby willow? like reading, or writing, or playing video games, or learning how to make a sandwich for yourself? you know, something productive.
Please refer to Plague of GAY Unicorns as Willow, seeing as they are one and the same character. Also, completely disregard any comment he leaves, seeing as they are all "I am trained in the black darkness magical arts, so I know more than you/ this is not as good as the true blackness of symphonic metal arts." It's just more ignorant spam.
Forget all of those keys. My blackness metally band has created some brand new keys! Keys never before played and we are truly setting the bar for symphonical stuff. All of you should really study a bit more before discussing any of the music here. Kamelot has some excellent qualities only because they are trained in the science of blackness but with out their violins and such, they are nowhere near as good as some of the Norwegian stuff. In short, listen to MOTOGAY cuzz they are pioneers.
I also am a fan of minor key, but power metal seems to work better in major key...
huh. That was unpleasant. Maybe I'm not in the mood for cheese right now.
I'm more of a minor key fan in general, but there is something about power metal that should compel you to pump a fist at the sky and let out a shrill warcry.
Major key uplifting, emotional guitar solos, thousand-man choirs, catchy choruses, etc. That's the sort of PM cheese I'm talking about! And yes, food cheese is excellent.
ha YES!!! who doesnt like cheese? there's so many different types of cheese, and most of them are quite good!(i'm referring to music, by the way. although the food cheese fits that statement also)
I find Kamelot to be a bit bland...too much minor key...I prefer my power metal to be uplifting and cheesy.
IF YOU MO'S DON'T LIKE KAMELOT, DON'T LISTEN AND DON'T COMMENT....I D I O T S ! !
F**k you Crownless, I can post what I like. You don't what the f**k you are even listening to on your walkman radio you son of a pig!
Sorry your experience was so negative, no need to damn the entire band because of it though. Get off your high horse...
In all regards, Kamelot is amazing. They have a knack for finding catchy melodies that somehow stir feelings like you've heard it somewhere before, an anthem that is natural in your soul, or something along those lines. |
Had a chance to see them perform in Boston one summer. They were late to the show and didn't sign anything after the show. it was like 25 bucks too, I threw all there s**t in a box the following summer and took guitar lessons. I can now play most of their s**t.
Karma, Silence in the Darkness, and Ghost Opera are all great songs.
Kamelot Rules. |
Uhh...don't remember the tune to that one...which I suppose proves my point. LOL.
@Black Swan: I like that one too. You know Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir provides guest vocals on that one? |
@POU: What about Valley of the Damned? I tend to think that's pretty catchy.
"March of Mephisto," all the way!! Don't ask me why I like it so well. I just do!
@LLM: I've only been able to hum (poorly) the intro to "Through the Fire and Flames" (I know that's the most generic example of their songs, but honestly, it's my favorite song, and the only one that has any catchiness that I can hear).
@POU: No it's not. It can be done, believe me. I'll go with you on Dark Moor and Rhapsody because they are awesome bands.
