Biography
These Canadians started to rock in 1992 with the mission statement "deliver the most punishing music ever created by combining melody and power into one devastating force." Whether they are the most punishing band ever could be debated for hours over multiple bottles of Jim Beam. But one thing is for sure: Kataklysm is an extremely heavy death metal band that has managed to remain interesting throughout their career. Their other amazing feat is that they have managed to maintain the same lineup throughout the years -- Maurizio Iacono (vocals), Jean-Francois Dagenais (guitars), Stephane Barbe (bass), and Max Duhamel (drums). Supporting bands like Deicide, Cathedral, Brutal Truth, Vader, Cannibal Corpse, and Dark Funeral has helped them gain popularity worldwide. I think in Willow we have found the same type of idiotic die-hard attitude that most "real" metal fans have. Except this guy likes nu-metal or AiC rip-offs. Huh.

Nice band, they have enough melody to make them better than the average death-metal band. They have a nice doom-metal-e s q u e sound when they break into grooves. They are one of those few death-metal bands that is just more than thudding riffs and OMGROM vocals, they almost touch the perfection of black metal.

yeah i saw these guys at the culture room in ft lauderdale. talked to Maurizio after and he was cool as f**k! invited us to go to the stripjoint lol. to bad we had a far a** drive home...... kataklysm kicks a**! i like death metal that breaks down a groove once in awhile.

Go suck on a dick and die Wii-Low. No one likes you and your taste in music is mediocre at best. Kataklysm is a great band, it's as close to Scandinavian metal we're ever gonna get in North America.

Saw them with Dying Fetus back in october! They are insane, and the pit was out of control! You can see them thriving on the havok they create! Excellent stuff indeed!

I think it's safe to say they did that. This is the heaviest band out right now, f()cking insane! They're like a more aggressive six feet under. As a test of society I always thought it would be a good idea to make kids listen to Kataklysm when they're little. If right away they're like "cool, I could get into this"...kill them immediately because they're gonna be f'ed up |

Actually, Lamb of God has Kataklysm essence to it. These guys are amazing live! I've seen them a few times in the last couple of years and have talked to Maurizio every time and find him genuinely awesome!! Real cool and down to earth

Weeping Willow III must be one of Captain Americas' tight clad b**ches. They need a good smack from god and my MASTER, BOW DOWN FOOL, these guys are brutal.

On the subject of Godsmack... So just last week I watched their album go straight to the top. It was a smash hit. Up and up it went. As the wax broke all over the street I smiled and walked away, satisfied.

If you think godsmack is real metal then your probably an immature teenager. You obviously know nothing about playing metal guitar, or death metal. I can tell by your comments about "faggots" that you have a lot of growing up to do. People like you hold us all back.

One of my favorite death metal bands, really heavy without overloading the scream/growl like a lot of bands *cough* *cough* *cannibal corpse* seem to do. Canadians RULE!

All their songs are too long with little variation. Other than that they are pretty cool.

These guys can definitely keep up in the heavy music arena. Some of the older stuff is very reminiscent of the roots of death metal (for better or worse), but the newer stuff has matured into the driving violent cacophony that we all love.
