Krypteria
Biography
Formed in the early years of the 21st century by guitarist Chris Siemons, bassist Frank Stumvoll, and drummer S.C. Kuschnerus, Krypteria were originally formed as a musical theater studio project with a selection of rotating vocalists. One of these singers was Ji-In Cho, who added her part to the track "Liberatio" on 2003's Krypteria. When the song was chosen by a German television station to be included in a benefit for hurricane victims, the trio decided to add Cho as a permanent member of the band. Their debut full-length as a four-piece, In Medias Res, came out in 2005, followed by heavy touring and the release of Bloodangel's Cry two years later. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide

Bloodangel's Cry
2007
@cheez-it: call it symphonic goth metal, to combine LLM and tstirman's responses. Btw, like your name!
cheez-it: That's a tough one, now that all of the lines between genres have been blurred and reformd to bring about new sub-genres. Call it a form Goth-Metal and you should be safe...
hey does anyone know wat genre they r? plx? seriously? i think theyre rlly good and i wanna know, so yh. sum1 tell me. lol.
Yes, yes it is, cluckah. Of course, I've only heard a few of the songs from Krypteria.
Interesting twist, isn't it, Kaill?
damn the lead singer is so hot and has such a beautiful voice. german band with a Japanese female lead singer
Very cool, but then everything it's similar to is also very cool so that's not particularly surprising!
I like Krypteria, and think that Bloodangel's Cry is cool, but it stinks that they do not have In Medias Res here. I'm curious to know what it's like. Ah well, there's always iTunes, etc.
I'm Catholic and we never use Latin in masses, religious ed, etc. Nobody around me uses it.
a lot of artists sing in latin. though it's not spoken anymore on a converationa l level, it's still taught in schools and used all the time by the catholic church and has been for centuries. english is obviously not a dead language, but you would not understand the english that was spoken a thousand years ago. can you not understand what they are saying?
I like this band but must make one comment. There is a real problem with them speaking (singing) in Latin since it is a dead language and no one knows what it sounds like.
The opening chuggity-chu g riff in "Out Of Tears" almost turned me off...until I heard those vocals! Holy crap, this is good stuff!
totally digging their sound!! they came on my Enya station! this is like Enya on metal alternative crack!!
These guys are like the cheap trailer park kegger party of the chick lead goth metal bands.
All Systems Go is a great track. Haven't heard any others on the album, however.
this band reminds me of sister sin and nightwish having a battle royal.
lol. i like it though....i think...yep. . . l i k e it. |
Another of my favourite singers. Why, oh why is Europe just way cooler when it comes to female-front e d bands who just kick a**? The only band I know of here is Benedictum and they rock!
symphonic metal at its best-great great singer ha more feeling that most i think only liv and the singer for crest come close----AWE S O M E
ji-in cho is one of my fave singers..... . . . . . . . y e a . . . . f u c c k . . . .
danpage103, I didn't say that I didn't want to be labeled, especially when people are going to do that, no matter what you do. What I was meaning by that comment was that "gothic" isn't about following a crowd, it's about doing your own thing.

@ Lily
Here's a very rough translation. I am taking Latin at my high school, but I'm only in Latin 1. So it's probably really bad. D: Opulentiam aeternam gloriamque te promitto - I promise you wealth and glory everlasting. Quidquid agis prudenter agas et respice finem - How do you so wisely look for my limits? Venustatem infinitam gloriamque te promitto - Eternal loveliness and glory you bring forth. :) |
sort of feeling sane-the normalcy is meeting the public's measure under showers of acid rain-time for me to bring in the pain-living with skeletns and eating black plague rats under this horrific reign-time for me to bring in the pain.
i wish this band the best of luck, and i hope to see more music soon, i wish they would play music like this on radio, but i geuss that which we call the present must remain that way for the small brained normal people or they may loss there minds...
Lily, try tranexp.com; that's where I go to translate Latin to English and back.
This is a very interesting band. After it came up in my list with Evanescence, I've fallen in love with "The Promise" off the album.
I don't suppose anyone knows enough Latin to translate the male vocals during the chorus, huh? |
