Lacrimas Profundere
Biography
Lacrimas Profundere is a German gothic metal band spearheaded by guitarist Oliver Nikolas Schmid, whose revolving door lineup rivals even Spinal Tap's (or Jethro Tull's) in terms of multiple musicians over the years. Founded in the Southern Bavarian municipality of Waging am See, circa 1993, Lacrimas Profundere debuted with 1995's ...And the Wings Embraced Us, featuring his brother Christopher Schmid on vocals, plus violinist Anja Hötzendorfer, flautist/keyboard player Eva Stöger, bassist Markus Lapper, and drummer Christian Greisberger. Despite such exotic instrumentation (for heavy metal at least), this and subsequent LPs like ...La Naissance d'un Rêve (1997), Memorandum (1999), and Burning: A Wish (2001), generally ran parallel with the doomy goth of mid-period Anathema, Katatonia and My Dying Bride. By comparison, subsequent efforts like Fall, I Will Follow (2002), Ave End (2004), and Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts (2006), saw Lacrimas Profundere following in the footsteps of the bands cited above, plus the likes of Tiamat and Moonspell, in leaving many of their metallic tendencies behind in order to embrace more traditional gothic rock wholeheartedly. 2007 also marked the departure of Christopher Schmid -- the last remaining original band member, save his brother -- and the arrival of new singer Rob Vitacca, likely signifying additional changes to Lacrimas Profundere's sound and creative direction in the immediate future. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. Candles raise my desire, Why I'm so far away. No more meaning to my life, No more reason to stay. Freezing, feeling, Breathe in, breathe in... I'm coming back again... I'm not the one who's so far away When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. |

these guys do NOT sound like HIM.
I've yet to hear a song I didn't like, so this has been definitively moved into my "things that are awesome" mental filing cabinet.
haha i agree totally with kat.
it's too yummy for words |
Wow! I've only heard one song by them so far, but they are definitely going in the "yes" category! :D

... HIM rip-off? :/
not really. |
As much as they sound like a total HIM rip-off, it's still fun. :)
Very interesting - I've only heard one track so far but that was excellent while also being rather unique. I don't think I've ever heard a metal group with a male vocalist actually SING in the lower registers before, they usually just use their 'low' voices for screaming, heh. Made for a refreshing contrast!
hmm... pretty cool.
I'm enjoying them a bit more than The 69 Eyes. the dark, gloomy melodies are beautiful. just what I like about gothic rock and metal. |
really diggin this at first listen. pretty chill compared to other bands like opeth crowbar and rapture.
After discovering Paradise Lost I wanted to hear more bands similar to them, and so far Lacrimas Profundere is my favorite. The richness and melancholic depth of the melodies keeps me enraptured.
This band is cool, they sorta remind me of a similar German rock group called ASP I actually thought it was them at first.
spooky-he's keeping track of the nazi's now that they dont have their banks anymore, doub t they listened to lacrimas profoundaire - m o r e like sheryl crow or elvis costello...
Much rolling of eyes. This band can just go ahead and do what it does, which is awesome, for the rest of MY life; I'll be happy. Good comment, Verbal.

metalizedead , if they're so terrible why do you have them bookmarked? LOL
I think it's funny their similar artists are "The 69 Eyes" and "The 69eyes" like they are two different bands.
Great, the nazis have turned their attention to music now. Is this how they recruit for the SS now? it sounds like an equipment malfunction at a recording studio under construction . Terrible Profundre
