The Last Dance
Selected Discography
I've had similar things happen, there are a number of different characterist i c s that Pandora uses to determine what type of song you like. Sometimes it picks a common item like structure, so you get an odd mix of thrash metal and house techno (I had a station tuned to Slayer playing a string of hard trance at one point).
Sometimes the application might just be mixed up, or adding a random selection to categorize new music in the system. |

I, personally, like that the stations play different bands than that which the station is tailored for. I already have a big chunk of music by my favorite artists. What I like Pandora for is getting to know OTHER bands with similar sounds. Especially lesser known, or local, bands like TLD. Gotta love a band that still plays gigs at their alma mater, even if it is a converted strip club. These guys have alot of talent and great attitudes.

It might depend on the obscurity of the band vs. the popularity of the descriptors. For example, if you make a station on an obscure band, and the descriptors that Pandora uses to describe that band's style happens to include 100's of bands, chances are the stationed band will rarely show up. But, 'eventually' a song by the stationed band should pass by.

~B, did you actually ADD the band? Or make the station around the song, instead of the band? I'd be interested to know. I usually build stations around songs, but started building around bands; I still seem to get the band either way. Anyone else????
