Lene Marlin
Biography
Norweigen singer/songwriter in the acoustic vein. Difficult to make comparisons, she's somewhere near Jewel and Jill Sobule, but in a class of her own at just 19. Grammy nominated single "Unforgivable Sinner" missed in the UK, but her second, the infectiously catchy "Sitting Down Here" charted after heavy rotation on music television. Both singles and parent album Playing My Game hit the top spot in Norway where Marlin gained four gongs at the local awards including Artist of the Year. ~ Kelvin Hayes, All Music Guide

She does at times have a Celtic tone to her voice, so I as well thought she might have been Irish. So I was surprised to find out she was Norwegian. Her voice is beautiful and her songs are sweet and melodic even when singing deep lyrics. Her new album is called Twist The Truth.

"When You Were Around" is such a beautiful song... always brings a tear and a few sighs. Lene is the real deal.

"Eyes Closed" has me hooked and is going on the "purchase list". Her sound is wonderfully familiar and yet has an elusive quality that keeps my ears guessing. The fact that she slipped past the Hollywood meat grinder is a plus. You go, girl!

Todd, I completely agree, I looked it up to see if it was Dolores O'Riordan, figured it wasnt from the picture, but was double checking. I wouldn't put her comparative to Jewel as it said above. I'll give Lene a chance, hoping she has something edgier in store.

I think that the most accurate comparison of Lene's voice and style would be
to put her on a parralell to Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries. The lilt and note flips are what made me look up this artist to see if Dolores had gone out on her own. Its sad to me that it isn't O'Riordan but I'm please to have discovered Lene Marlin. |

I cannot find this song to purchase anywhere- I love it - help!!

Surprised some norsk metal band hasn't snapped her up; she could contribute a lot. Guess not everyone can be Liv Kristine in Theatre of Tragedy and Leaves' Eyes.
