Long Beach Dub Allstars
Biography
Following the 1996 heroin overdose of Sublime frontman Brad Nowell, surviving bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh formed the Long Beach Dub Allstars with singer Opie Ortiz, guitarists RAS-1 and Miguel, keyboardist Jack Maness, keyboardist Isaiah Owens, saxophonists Todd Foreman and Tim Wu, and DJ Marshall Goodman. After appearing on a series of compilations and tribute albums, the group issued its full-length debut Right Back on DreamWorks in the fall of 1999. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

whoever is talking about replacements is an idiot. LBDA are not replacing anyone, they are completely diff from beastie boys. and to the person who said they are cant replace sublime, dumb-a@@ this is sublime, minus Bradley Norwell. So if anything, it's not the replacement, they are just the continuation of a band who's career was cut-short due to a drug overdose. Hands down Sublime would be one of the greatest bands of its kind if Brad didn't die. Suck it if you don't agree

Hey guys whats all this talk about "replacement " ? Siriously its music guys its not religion. Take it for what it is. Just because it sounds like a band before it doesnt mean it cant stand alone as good music. No one creates a song, the song is always there. It is up to the musicians to "find it".

beastie boys suck.they even said they dont like there old music cause it says bad things about women.and beastie boys cant even pplay instruments they suck.
Short Bus is awesome too. Ras 1 baby. Eric wilson god of thunder and Bud Gaugh is always right on time. RIP Brad and Lou Dog. Thanks for all the great music fellas. Stay Irie!

I believe Bud Gaugh "Cue Ball" is the bassist and Eric Wilson is the drummer. Am I wrong? Anyone know for sure? Seen them as LBC as well; they're still kicking a**!
please get back 2gether and do a big tour theyd sell out everywhere if they did. and tour with bad fish shortbus and the drummers new band
...they did not cease to be. The living have simply moved on, and thank god they changed the name.. it WOULDN'T have been right to have anyone else singing for Bradley. In fact, every time the band has changed dramatically , the name got changed, thus we have Shortbus now. As far as I know, they dropped the word DUB from their title, once again, I'm going from my conversation with the guys. I'm not the authority on the LBC, but I doubt very much that you are.
Thats funny wade, cuz I got my info from Brads little bro, with Eric standing right there. The name changes all the time, but the heart of the music is still SUBLIME, my point was that they don't have to try to be Sublime, because they have the sublime liniage, they ESSENTIALLY are sublime.. Youve taken my words WAY too literally. I have great respect for the band that IS Sublime, it still exists, I still listen to them, they still get radio play, pandora still lists them as a band.
im looking for the best of sublime tattoos to cover all the blank spots on my body. know any good websites?
hey Brianna, first they aren't Sublime, Sublime is Bud, Eric, and Brad, Sublime does not exist anymore. LBDA is a group of homeboys that like makin' music, just happens to be that the drummer and base player from Sublime are in the band, LBDA never dropped a member cause of that, Bud got burnt when he found out Eric and some others had been f**kin' around with drugs and he wanted no part of that so he bailed, if anybody needs info on anything Sublime related hit me up!
I always new of the band and considered their music to be "Sublimish" and tight. Livng in the north east never heard of them coming to the area so It was strickly boot legs ya know. Thanks for filling me in on a little of the bands history. Easily one of the best bands ever (Sublime) imagine what else could have been, as great as they were they fell short of their full potential . Each tune brings back a good memory though. smoke em if you got em
I'll tell you what happened to them Chirrco, LBDA isn't trying to continue the Sublime legacy.. because they are Sublime...th e remaining two members anyhow. The band has gone through a few changes over the years. They dropped a member (someone slept with someones wife)and changed the name to Long Beach Short Bus, which was later shortened to Short Bus. They still tour nonstop, I caught them in Ft. Lauderdale and it was AWESOME.
yeeeeeeeeaaa a h ! LBDA are the best thing after Sublime! And that's saying a lot! Both of their albums are chock full of classic songs, I think they continue the Sublime legacy with great respect. Wonders of the World is their best album .. but what happened to them???
I refused to listen to it for years, once I did I realized that I was retarded for doing so, LBDA is almost as good as Sublime, which is the best band ever created so in short this music is great, every song, both albums! They need to come back and play some shows!
Long Beach Short Bus rocks even harder- all of the reggae influence, none of the infighting. And still all the original members which were left from Sublime in it! After the split, I stopped listening to the pale imitation of this band, when I could get the real deal from the Short Bus!
