Lorie Line
Biography
Popular instrumental pianist Lorie Line began working as a department-store performer, but later formed her own Time Line Productions to release her own albums; by the mid-'90s she became a popular new age/light classical pianist with sales of over one million albums. Born and raised in Reno, NV, Line began playing piano at the age of five. Gifted with the talent of playing by ear, she began taking lessons a year later; by the time of her high-school graduation, she had won two national classical piano competitions. Line studied piano performance at the University of Nevada in Reno and began working in Minneapolis in 1989.
Moonlighting at night, she played piano in bars and restaurants, but jumped at the chance to play for shoppers at nearby Dayton's. She recorded her first album Out of Line that same year, and sold cassettes while working. After several such releases, Line began to build a following around the Minnesota area and decided to make music a full-time occupation. She formed her Pop Chamber Orchestra and began touring around the country. The buzz helped, as Line's two 1995 albums -- Heart & Soul and Sharing the Season, Vol. 3 -- each made Top 15 on the New Age charts. Lorie Line produced her first public-television special in August 1996, and released Lorie Line Live! that same year as a document of the program. Simply Grand followed in 1999. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

I was home, groggy and sick with the flu, when I heard her interviewed on NPR years ago. Her music was special! I ordered my first CD the next day. Years later she is still my favorite pianist..

Im pretty sure, actually, Im positive that her song "In Dreams" on the album "Now and Then" was in Lord of the Rings. It took me a while to figure out where I had heard it before.
|
||
I love the fact she has her own unique style, and I strongly believe having your own style, your own technique is what any body with huge dreams need in order to make that dream real. Lorie definitely has it.

Believe it or not, this was one of my mom's good friends in high school. She sang and played the piano in my mom's wedding. My mom said she always knew she would make it big some day and she did just that! I played a lot of her music at my wedding, mostly as people were coming in a being seated...it is great background music! I love to listen to it when I am studying or just deep in thought! My favorite song is "Threads of Love"

This is one of the most beautiful sounds I have heard. It's so emotional. I'm teary eyed just listening to this.

I really enjoy what I've heard of her. I really like "time to say goodbye". That one is really pretty.
|
||
Her music has such a flow to it! I love playing it. There are so many intricacies to it, but I still don't get lost in the details!
|
||
I would like to hear more of her selections. Very nice listening music!

talented. very talented. i enjoy the way her chords roll together to form music that never seems harsh or overbearing. it seems to be a go between style of classical and pop. quite lovely

Lori, you are a dedicated and talented musician whose desire to entertain and offer the extraordinar y shows in all of your personal effort and achievement. It makes the rest of us who quit piano lessons feel guilty and at the same time able to say "bravo", to one who pursued the music in her soul. The music each of us hears is a reflection of our spirit--ther e is no such thing as plagiarism. Lorie, Your example and accomplishme n t s outstanding. Keep playing what's in your heart!

This is the first I've heard of Lorie Line and even though Clocks is overplayed as a song, she adds some kicky jazz beats to bring some new flavor. I'll look up her other stuff

Very nice. Unfortunatel y the 1st song of hers I heard was blatant plagiarism (or the musical equivalent) with no nod in the direction of the original composer.

I had never heard of Lorie Line before today. I like the syncopated bass she is playing; it makes me want to go and try it! I began playing by ear and learned to read music later in order to teach it.

Lorie's piano production of Now and Then made me stop what I was doing and just listen. It zoomed to my heart and caressed my soul. Thank you. I shall buy this album. Gloria Messemer gmessemer@ms n . c o m

Just came back from her concert in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Never heard of her before. Loved her music so much that I bought 5 of her CD's on the spot. Not only a true talent but also a wonderful person. The ride back home was great while listening to her CD "Now and Than". Thanks. Jacob Marvin, Plantation. Florida (3/3/08)
