Machine Head
Biography
Influential West Coast heavy metal quartet Machine Head formed in 1992 around the talents of ex-Vio-lence guitar players Robert Flynn and Phil Demmel, bass player Adam Duce, and drummer Chris Kontos. The band's D.I.Y. work ethic, aggressive playing, and relentless self-promotion eventually landed them a deal with Roadrunner Records, a relationship that would extend all the way through 2005. Their blistering debut, 1992's Burn My Eyes, blended the powerful, modern attack of Pantera and Alice in Chains with the volatility of classic thrash bands like Death Angel and Slayer, earning them a huge European following. The record sold over 500,000 copies and spawned a massive international tour that lasted almost two years. Kontos was replaced by new drummer Dave McClain on 1997's More Things Change, an album that saw the band blending speed and progressive metal with dizzying results. The excessive touring and high-octane lifestyle took its toll on the group, but they fought through their demons on 1999's Burning Red, resulting in the hit "From This Day," their first commercial single and video. 2001 saw the release of Supercharger, followed by the concert album Hellalive and the critically lauded Through the Ashes of Empires in 2003. The DVD Elegies arrived in 2005, followed by Blackening in 2007. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

This is my favorite metal band 1st! And their are plenty of great other metal bands-god bless you & metal.
Pantera did pioneer Thrash and as for Machine head they just picked up were pantera left off. But I must say Machine Head is without a doubt one of the best metal bands out!
I dont have any idea what facepalming is, but have fun with that. No one sounded like Pantera or machine head at that time, and since then alot of bands have been influenced by them. granted their were similar instrumental s being played but the distinct growls and yells were innovative and if you think different please fill me in.

@Belligerent Ranter:
... huh... wha... did you just call MachineHead and Pantera... PIONEERS?!? Holy hell... I never thought I would ever see something that would make me facepalm in real life. |
This actually is my favourite band, has been for about 10 years now.
"formed in 1992 around the talents of ex-Vio-lence guitar players Robert Flynn and Phil Demmel, bass player Adam Duce, and drummer Chris Kontos." or really??? So Logan Madder wasnt there? or Ahrue after him? Acually i just read the whole thing, Wiki is 1000% more accurate.... thats BAD dude |
This isn't my favorite group, but I will pay homage to one of the pioneers. Thank you Machine Head, Slayer and Pantera!!
YOU WANT WAR, YOU'LL GET IT!!!!!!! |
dude machine head made it possible for mudayne and slipknot they have influenced lots of bands over their time
One of the only bands that can pull off singing clean vocals while still being metal. \m/
I don't see what the fuss was over The Burning Red and Supercharger . Perfectly good albums, the talk of selling-out that they did was bullshit. However, i do prefer Burn My Eyes and Through the Ashes of Empires to those. Haven't heard much of the new album yet.
The Blackening is definitely one of the greatest Metal albums I've heard. These guys are damn brutal, love it.
Both Soil and MH have a song called Halo. I'm not confused but thanx 4 ur consurn. Although.... . .
I AM INSANE!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! LOL |
Awesome band. Easily one of my 2-3 favorite of all time, along with Fear Factory, and Testament. Have seen them many times, since being blown away by them on their Burn My Eyes tour.
adamsmd127 - I like Machine Head - GREAT band, but I don't think I'd trade them over L.O.G. as far as live performance goes...EVER! And yes, I've seen both - MULTIPLE times.
This is my favorite NO. 1 Metal band MH! Seeing them live is believing how great they play tight and powerful. This is what MH is all about! They are unique and just get better and better! Saw them recently at SOMA-SD and sold out standing room only-they kick a**! Enclosing their are a lot of great bands but MH has really become unique! Peace!
Machine Head has a song called halo on the blackening and so does Soil and Machine Head rocks they did sell out a little and go nu metal but they still sounded awesome and then went back to their old thrash metal style and made some kick a** albums.
I'd never heard of these guys till "Ashes", saw them play a show with L.O.G., and would have gladly traded the headlining act for Machine F**king Head! They only played four songs, and that's all it took.
this is with out a doubt the best f**king metal band to come out of the late 90's I've seen them several times last year in chico they put l.o.g to f**king shame!!!!!!! ! ! ! then again at the heaven and hell tour hell they even out played megadeath.on top of that they are great f**king guys they always roam after the show talking to there fans f**king awsom guys
I remember seeing this guys in the late 90s in small venues and as openers in LA.
They always put on a damn good show and never failed to entertain. |
My favorite heavy-metal band, hands-down. I love everything I've heard from these guys. They have very original, instantly classic songs.
Sadly they dont have alot of the cover songs for anyone unless they released it as a whole album
"Influential West Coast heavy metal quartet Machine Head formed in 1992 around the talents of ex-Vio-lence guitar players Robert Flynn and Phil Demmel, bass player Adam Duce, and drummer Chris Kontos". Come on brother, Phil Demmel wasn't in Machine Head when they formed. He didn't join till 2002. It was Logan Mader. |
Seen these guys live on the ozfest tour,then with SLAYER! and Sepultura(ma x days),and biohazard.An d i have to say Machine Fukin'head!W h a t a show!Totally a must see in concert.I'm up to 3x.And they kickass.

MACHINE FUKIN HEAD |
Awesome group in the vein of Pantera. Hopefully they get more of the exposure they deserve. If the Blackening doesn't do it, I don't know what will
