Biography
Guitarist/keyboardist Matt Johnson and drummer Kim Schifino create the giddy, punk-peppered pop music of Matt & Kim. The two musicians (both of whom contribute vocals to the project) came together in 2004 while attending the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Two years later, following a string of spring shows alongside Meneguar, the tender-hearted twosome began recording their debut album. The self-titled release was issued by the iHEARTCOMIX label in fall 2006, and several festival appearances (including stints at Lollapalooza and the Siren Music Festival) kept the band's profile high in 2007. Matt & Kim continued touring throughout the following years, taking a brief break to record material for their sophomore album. Grand appeared in early 2009. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

Man, even though these guys are self trained and don't have the expertise as all these run of the mill bands. WHat sets them apart is that you know they love what they're doing, they are happy and they love being together. Somehow that joy pores over their even on record, you can still get a feel for them these guys are amazing.

i agree with josho! kim always has this amazingly joyful expression when she plays & they both seem to have a ton of fun! it's contagious! i don't see how someone could go to one of their shows and not be happy. :)

Matt and Kim are awesome, and is it just me or do other people love to see them play they get so excited it makes their music even more enjoyable.

What first caught my attention was "Daylight" in the Bacardi Mojito TV commercial. It has a SICK beat, full of energy, and the lyrics are really catchy. So, I did a little research and found out about Matt&Kim...I pledge my fanhood!

wow wow wow. just saw M&K open for Cut Copy in DC this week. b-a-n-a-n-a- s . their energy is highly infectious and b4 you know it your dancing your a** off with the biggest, goofiest smile on your face. i cannot get enough of them. Grand is my favorite record of 2009 thus far and they sound even more incredible live!

It's a shame their biography is so brief. They are a great band. Simple and fun. Got the chance to see them in New Orleans a year or so ago. Technically only saw two and a half songs, since the police came and busted it up for being to noisy (the concert was in some random dude's house). But what I did see was fun. haha But seriously, their album is one of my favorites. And I found them right here on Pandora! Yay, Pandora! haha Hope a new one comes out soon.
