Matt Nathanson
Biography
An impressive 12-string guitar player and songwriter, San Francisco's Matt Nathanson has built up a loyal fan base through extensive touring. His live shows are stripped-down affairs, usually with just Nathanson and cellist Matt Fish on-stage, and are half music, half standup comedy, with the humor balancing out the frequently despondent introspection of the songs. Nathanson has released four independent albums, Please (1993), Ernst (1997), Not Colored Too Perfect (1998), and Still Waiting for Spring (1999), as well as an EP, When Everything Meant Everything (2002). His major-label debut, Beneath These Fireworks, was released by Universal Records in 2003, produced by Ron Aiello, and was followed four years later by Some Mad Hope. Nathanson's songs have also been featured on several television shows, including Dawson's Creek, Smallville, and Road Rules. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

Matt is absolutely amazing. his vocals, lyrics, rythms, guitar... it's all just amazing. ive been hooked since "Car Crash" was a free download on iTunes, I think that is the best song i will EVER get for me! The whole CD is an adventure, just listen to it all! If you love the CD, see him live. he sounds even better (if possible), and this guy is HILARIOUS. ....he also tends to break out in Journey ;D "To The Beat Of Our Noisy Hearts" is my fav. :D |

I just saw Matt Nathanson live at the Binghamton University Spring Fling this past weekend. He is a very good artist and does a wonderful job getting the audience involved and pumped up. Despite the rain, he kept on going and was very enthusiastic . He was much better than the headliner, Lifehouse, who stalled with a > 1 hr setup time and was hoping we'd all leave b/c of the rain.

I am new to this Pandora site, and it Rocks!! I have found myself sitting at my desk listening for hours. As songs grab me, I click back to give them the thumbs up, and have noticed that I am seeing this Matt Nathanson a lot. For someone I have never heard of, I am surprised to find myself becoming a quick fan!!

I'm trying to figure out what his connection is to The Postal Service? on his Track "Bent", there's a line that is also in The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights". Very similar vocal style as well. Anyway, great artist!

He is amazing. "CAR CRASH," is a fantastic song. He really embodies the new standard for softer rock.

While I tend to avoid live albums ill be sure to check this one out!
This mans music is fantastic. hes not some stupid boy writing about pain cause its in, he seems to really feel what hes saying. I think its best shown in Sad Songs and Little Victories on his Beneath These Fireworks' album. |

This is why I love pandora. I feel his style is similar to Jack Johnson and Martin Sexton, but the banter on his live stuff definitely sets him apart.

Matt Nathanson has great energy and a wicked sense of humor. To fully appreciate Matt's music I recommend seeing him live. His music is sometimes compared to better known artists like Jason Mraz but I feel Matt's music has a greater depth than many of the more popular male singer-songw r i t e r s . His lyrics are honest without being cliche and he writes a mean ballad disguised as a rock song. Rock On, Matt Nathanson!
