Meg Christian
Biography
Meg Christian recorded Olivia's first album and, along with Cris Williamson, brought the whole field of women's music into its golden age. A singer/songwriter with a folk and classical bent, her music tends to be impassioned and filled with intense feelings, and her sound very elegant and restrained. Although she retired from performing during the '80s, her work still looms large among older listeners, and she is revered within the field. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide

Meg holds a place in my heart uniquely her own. Her music influenced so many women (and yes, men), and she opened doors for other musicians (even holding doors for some of us!). While the biography on the Music Genome Project reflects well the time and scope of both Meg Christian and Women's Music, much as I'd like to claim her as a native North Carolinian (she went to school here) she's Virginian. We can, though, proudly claim her as a fine Southern singer-songw r i t e r !

This discography is sooo limited! We're missing Turning It Over (my fave) and it would be nice to have Meg & Cris At Carnegie Hall on here, too! I miss Meg Christian SO much.
