Metal Hearts
Biography
The Metal Hearts feature multi-instrumentalists Anar Badalov and Flora Wolpert-Checknoff. Once enemies in high school, Badalov and Wolpert-Checknoff internalized such animosity for a competitive, creative relationship. Both started writing songs during college. Badalov was attending Rhode Island College in Providence while Wolpert-Checknoff was studying at Concordia University in Montreal. Once back in their native Baltimore, the brooding indie rock duo came together in early 2004 with programmer Sam Leiber. Socialize marked the Metal Hearts' debut release for Suicide Squeeze in February 2006. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

I actually thought this band was The Sea And Cake, when i first heard 'Socialize.' And then a line from their biography caught my eye- I went to the same small state college as Anar, although i didn't know him. Perhaps that makes me partial, but regardless, this band is worth listening to. They have a very sweet, hopeful, harmonic, gender neutral sound.

Great stuff here! Reminds me of Team Sleep and Stars of Track and Field.

Metal Hearts came up on my "Above&Beyon d " station, which also has some mellower flavors, like down-tempo Deftones / Team Sleep and Massive Attack / Craig Armstrong stuff. This band reminds me of a group called "Calla" – a baleful, sometimes sinister vibe with lots of whispering guitar and vocals lurking about.
