Mick Overman & Maniacs
Biography
West Coast poet, musician, singer/songwriter, and cult hero Mick Overman has been performing in one way or another his whole life. The Ohio native followed his rocket scientist father to Santa Cruz, CA, during the aerospace boom in the 1940s. It was there that he fell in love with music, baseball, poetry, and the public spotlight (he served as a city council youth delegate at the ripe old age of 17). After dropping out of college (he made it through high school in just three years), Overman hooked up with fellow musicians Marty Headman and John Seth Sherman, with whom he would eventually form three bands: Crosscurrent, Caledonia, and Mick Overman & the Maniacs. He has released a number of records, including Empty City, Lucky., Mileage, Authentic, and Good Thing Happen. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
