Cecilia and Johan used to play in the rock band 'Souls' until 1997. Since then Johan has played with Courtney Love, Joakim Thåström and others. Stig has played with Danish rocker Allan Vegenfeldt. The track "Lost on The Lawn" was spawned from their first rehearsal. Soon Monkeystrike s was in London recording with producer Nille Perned (also a member of "The Chinamen"). Subsequent Monkeystrike s were recorded in Tambourine studios in Malmö, Sweden, with producer and hockey player Herman Söderström.
The band's name is a tribute to a friend - Monty Strikes.
