Murali Coryell
Biography
Although he's the son of fusion guitarist Larry Coryell, Murali Coryell chose not to follow in the same style of music as his father -- he specializes in blues and soul. Coryell issued his debut album in 1995, Eyes Wide Open, following it up four years later with 2120 (recorded at Todd Rundgren's Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, NY, it became the first ever album issued by new label CZYZ, created by the sons of original Chess Records founders Leonard and Phil -- Marshall and Kevin Chess) enlisting the services of both Rod Gross (drums) and Bill Foster (bass). Met him on the 2008 Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise - he is a very down to earth person without an ego problem. After getting off the ship I remembered that the first time I saw him was when he was just a little kid. I worked in Westport, Connecticut at the time (late 70's) and his father Larry was coming out of a delicatessen with Murali. F.Y.I. the LR&B Cruise is a once in a lifetime trip that me and my wife will make for the 4th year. Seven days on the Caribbean in January is blues heaven (

Great voice. His brother Julian is a really great guitarist, wish we could hear from him on Pandora. I saw him playing for Aimee Mann.
