Muse
Biography
Muse's fusion of progressive rock, glam, electronica, and Radiohead-influenced experimentation is crafted by guitarist/vocalist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard. Bored by the sleepy life provided by their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon, the three British friends began playing music together. They started the first incarnation of their band while only 13 years old, changing the name of the group from Gothic Plague to Fixed Penalty to Rocket Baby Dolls as time passed. By 1997, the bandmates settled on the name Muse and released their self-titled debut EP on Dangerous Records, followed by the Muscle Museum EP in 1998. The group's emotive, passionate sound and live presence drew critical acclaim and industry buzz, and Muse signed a deal with Maverick Records after a trip to New York's CMJ festival. The singles "Cave" and "Uno" preceded their debut full-length album, Showbiz, which was released toward the end of 1999. Two years later, Muse issued The Origin of Symmetry and had a major hit with "Hyper Music," which helped propel the album to platinum status in the U.K.
In 2002, fans were treated to Hullabaloo Soundtrack, a combination rarities/live set that peaked at number ten in Europe. Muse then returned with a proper studio effort, Absolution, which became the band's first album to chart in America. A short North American tour in the spring of 2004 coincided with Muse's spot on the fifth annual Coachella Music and Arts Festival, and Absolution eventually went gold in the U.S. Back at home, the album earned Muse their second platinum certification. Released two years later, Black Holes and Revelations marked the band's brightest, most dynamic set of material to date, topping the U.K. album chart within its first week and earning Muse their second consecutive number one album at home. In America, Black Holes and Revelations broke into the Top Ten.
Muse toured Europe, America, Australia, and Southeast Asia in support of the album, and their dynamic stage performance (which won the band multiple awards for Best Live Act, including accolades from the NME Awards, the Q Awards, and the Vodafone Live Music Awards) was captured on 2008's H.A.A.R.P. Live from Wembley. The trio spent the remainder of that year -- as well as the early part of 2009 -- in the recording studio, eventually emerging with the release of The Resistance in September. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide

you are insanely incredible. i don't even understand how it's possible for a band to be so brilliant. please keep making music for the sake of all humanity.
oh and btw, you are my all time favorite band. and you're amazing live. |

Matt is a male Siren. He's sexy and an incredible singer. LOVE THIS BAND SO HARD!

If I could marry a voice, it would be Matthew Bellamy's! I love it!
I LOVE MUSE!!!!!
I hope they come near me for a show soon. I think the new album is fantastic! |

Muse is amazing and an incredible live performance. Saw them open for U2 and they played as if they were the headliner. I can't wait to see them on their tour.
agreed. Muse is more imaginative and musical than Radiohead. Radiohead has it's good bits too of course, but Muse is still better.
muse to me is nothing like radiohead. They are cooler, more talented, and are better live. THey certainly rock a lot harder.
Enough with the comparisons; Muse>Radiohe a d .
They totally kill it live too. |
Butterflies And Hurricanes is my favorite song, Matthew Bellamy is a great pianist also sings good, i'm looking forward for another album.
Pandora needs to put up the new album!! "In Rainbows" was free and that was such a big thing for the fans! My favorite songs have to be:
1)Creep 2)Karma Police 3)Creep again 4)and the whole OK Computer album! Keep rocking Mu....Radioh e a d ! ! |

I wasn't disappointed by The Resistance mainly because I wasn't expecting anything close to Black holes and Revelations, let alone Absolution. Basically, I expected them to progress and write new songs with a new sound. That's what I got. Didn't expect Exo-Geniuses to top Knights of Cydonia nor expect the filler to be everyday listens like the other albums. MK ULTRA was good, though.

cool band. great political message. they put on an "amazing" live show. i swear, the energy was amazing, and i saw them up rail.
well i read through the pages and answerd my own question, not too many people like the new album..Ive listened to it quite a few times and yeah not every song is GREAT, but still lovin it.
does it even matter if they're if rip-offs? I liek them and I'm a Radiohead fan.
Just herd the new album..Its very umm MUSE!!such a variation from song to song but thats just their style!!I love them, and the new CD. You have to be very open minded when you listen to it. Anyone else herd it yet?? Id love to see what others think about it.
Ok Muse may not "be Radiohead" but both bands have similar experimental styles and while Radiohead is not as (for lack of a better word) hard as Muse there are numerous musical qualitys there share in common. maybe you should listen to more than just "creep" before u think your an expert on either band.
Went to the U2 360 tour and MUSE was the opener. Holy $#!+ they where awesome live! They stole the show...
How could you say they are radiohead? Have you ever even listened to radiohead? probably not if you compare the two. Muse is it's own band, and they are the best at it.
I was recently introduced to them by this guy that I like... Lucas! (He'll never see this so why does it mater), and I really like them, not just because he likes them!
