Myleene Klass
Biography
Reinventing herself as a classical musician and a TV presenter after the sudden rise and fall of Hear'Say, Myleene Klass has gone on to become one of the U.K.'s most popular entertainment personalities. Born in Gorleston, Norfolk, in 1978 to an Austrian-English father and Filipina mother, Klass grew up in a musical family. Her father came from six generations of classical musicians, with her grandmother an opera singer and her grandfather a violinist. She learned to play the piano and violin at the age of four, studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music, and went on to study drama and musical theater at the Royal Academy of Music, where she met talent scout Charlie Edge, who guided her early career. She performed backing vocals for k.d. lang, Michael Crawford, and Robbie Williams, made her West End theater debut in Miss Saigon, and appeared on TV as part of Cliff Richard's "Millennium Prayer" choir.
In 2000 she auditioned for Popstars, ITV's groundbreaking talent search contest, and after impressing judges with her musical ability, earned a place in the final five, Hear'Say. The band scored two number one singles and a number one album, and embarked on a 37-date sold-out arena tour. But their second album failed to make the Top 20, Kym Marsh left the group amid reports of fights with Klass, and the wave of support they initially received quickly dissolved. By the time of comeback single "Lovin Is Easy," on which Klass had her first lead vocal, the group had become an easy target for critics, and Hear'Say disbanded months after. A year later, Klass burst into tears in an interview on The Frank Skinner Show when recalling the hostility she had received on the street from the general public.
After signing a five-album deal with Universal Classics and Jazz, her first single, "Toccato and Fugue," became the first classical track to appear on music television channel The Box. Her debut album, Moving On, a collection of reworkings of popular classical pieces and modern pop tracks, reached number two in the classical charts and number 33 in the album charts, and was nominated for People's Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards. In 2005 she performed in The Vagina Monologues and presented the long-running ITV chart show CD:UK, but it was her appearance on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here a year later that endeared her to the nation. Her high-profile status led to a new album deal with EMI Classics, a slot on Classic FM's Sunday Breakfast show, and several successful advertising campaigns. In 2007 her Myleene's Music for Romance album, a choice of her favorite classical pieces, reached number one on the classical charts, as did the follow-up, Music for Mothers. Klass has since fronted several prime-time TV shows, including The One Show and Last Choir Standing. ~ Jon O'Brien, All Music Guide

i haven't seen braveheart but I love the music! along with the patriot's music and the music from the last of the Mohicans all ones I've never seen

I absolutely love Myleene's "For the Love of a Princess". The movie Braveheart directed by Mel Gibson was also pretty good; gruesome, but good. lol...
The song is on the Braveheart Soundtrack!
I believe it is the Love scene. |
This is the song from Gladiator, not The Piano (The Heart Asks for Pleasure First) and not Braveheart (For the Love of a Princess).

Jazz artist having been doing covers of each others songs for decades,it is really the musicianship that counts more than just originality. I f it weren't for bands doing cover songs artist like Mose Allison would hardly be heard of.
I love her music. Very talented pianist. As for the speculation, if songs were only played once by one artist...who would discover them?
So what if she is doing music that has been done before? She does it beautifully! Many times, one or two songs are great on an album and the rest are forgetable.. b e c a u s e they are unfamiliar. So she has hit a home run with ALL songs that soar. We hear a song that is familiar or even vaguely familiar and we can hum along with it. New or strange music, no humming there! I love this album! Maybe people should just stop playing or recording Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc., since "it's been done before"

This is such a beautiful CD. I hate to see such talented and beautfiul artist go unnoticed. It doesn't matter that she has played previous songs as long as you put your spin on it. And thats exactly what she did. Its awesome!

All of the songs on this album were previously written. She hasn't stolen anything, she has simply performed an album of cover songs. Doing a cover nowadays isn't so uncommon. It's never that big of a deal when people sing covers, why is it a big deal if someone plays them? If you click on the 'Continued' link at the bottom of the 'Biography' paragraph above, it explains all that. She never claimed any of these songs were hers. It would be nice, however, to hear some of her own compositions .

Come on duds! "For the Love of a Princess" is from Braveheart!! ! "Now We Are Free" is from Gladiator!!! But just who does this Klass-less chick think she is stealing great music from all these great films?!? Doesn't anyone do anything original anymore??? I quit...
oooo ok if u scroll down 2 what other ppl have said, she's taken music from multiple movies: braveheart, gladiator, and the pianist

All you people are smoking dope...the musical piece that sounds familiar to you all is from the movie Braveheart. Close your eyes, lose yourself and imagine William Wallace gently kissing his betrothed goodbye as she dies in his arms...and then grabbing that massive, two-handed claymore of his and hacking down scores of English soldiers! Myleene's entrancing music just carries me away...

Was really impressed with her music, first time I've ever heard her sing. She sounds a lot like Enya and Lorenna Mckennit.

too bad she's not on iTunes...she ' s got some beautiful arrangements of well-known tracks. "Now we are Free" (from Gladiator) was awesome...
melody from "For the Love of a Princess" is stolen from a song on Yukie Nishimura's album A letter to myself. I forget what track though, probably Against the wind or Hero
