I am new to Middle Eastern Music.....an d I simply adore it ....Music to get lost in....so very differant from the hard rock and southern rock and the 60's rock I came up with . I heard some Sufi praise music in a movie I watched from India about the 15th century Mogul Rulers ...and fell in love.

She could be singing the recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies and I wouldn't care; the beauty of the sound transcends the inaccessibil i t y of the content. But, I am so glad for this music genome project because I find myself wondering if there is a group with a similar sound that sings in English, and whether comprehendin g the lyrics will add to or detract from the experience.

I first heard about this group on my local public radio station and instantly was drawn to the music. It is a dreamlike mix of sophistated lyrics married to hypnotic percussion. "Beni Beni" is infectious (in a good way). Absolutely beautiful.

I first heard them in a Persian owned clothing store on Sunset Strip. So exotic and magical. I don't have a clue what the words mean but Azam's voice is so compelling it doesn't matter.

I just purchased this cd today and it is indeed beautiful!!! ! This is my 3rd cd of Niyaz and or Azam Ali. You will not have wasted your money if you buy this music.

cool music, nice fusion of different beats and rythms....I agree Pandora should explore more arabic and RAI music.

the group is persian and speaks farsi... a dialect of arabic... farsi is written exactly like arabic but is spoken in a different dialect... as any other arabic.. there is pakistani arabic...and so on.. the languages are very similer in that they use same alphabet yet in different ways and pronouciatio n s .

I agree with some of the others, Arabic is a beautiful and sexy language. Pandora, please pay MORE Arabic. Although this artist is not arabic.

I've only just heard this for the first time, but reminds me of Vas (no surprise there as both use the same singer/compo s e r ) , which also reminded of Dead Can Dance. If you like this, you'll also like about any of Vas's work. I started with "Feast of Silence."
