Nobuo Uematsu
Selected Discography
Haha, i didnt even play FFVII or see the movie, and one winged angel still gives me feeling! they arent like the emotions given by classical music all the time, but they are still there, and they are still great! so do plenty more of his pices from games i have yet to play!!
It's not one of his classical styles, but The Chase of Highway I think is very good.
I think that Nobuo Uematsu's music is ok, far from being great. The reason why most people love it so much is because they recall the parts of the video game like how can you not remember sephiroth when one-winged angel comes on, or think about the sceen on regnorak when eyes on me plays. The music brings up emotions from the game, not emotions for the song. If you truly listen to classical a lot you will notice how bland many of Nobuo Uematsu's songs truly are, however I still listen to
I do not exaggerate when I say that Nobuo Uematsu is one of the worlds' greatest composers. I can't believe how good video game and anime music has become! Thanks Japan, and thanks Uematsu-sama !
Music rarely evokes strong emotion in me, but Uematsu's Final Fantasy soundtracks contain some of the only exceptions. "Theme of Love", for example.
They really need the FFVI soundtrack on here. |
I saw the trailor for dissidia a few weeks ago, and am considering buying a psp simply to get it. anyone know if theyre releasing it on other systems??

CALLING OUT TO ALL FF FANS!!!
You like Final Fantasy? (We all did) Then check out Disadea if you havent already! Square Enix took all major villians and heroes (Sephiroth, Cloud, Onion Knight, Squall, Tidus, you name it!) and pit them against each other. And what's more, you can choose sides! Will it be Cosmo? Or Chaos? |
Uematsu is such a great composer! whenever i play the ff games, the music adds so much to the story and feel of the game, i wish they'd put his whole discogrophy on here, maybe ill suggest that to the admins
his music is full emotion and great composition, it goes the full gambit of emotion, from sadness (aerith) to the feeling of accomplishme n t (victory fanfare), it is wonderful what he has done
I have to say that Nobuo is a brilliant composer and there should be more of his music on here
they should have a biography for him on pandora, he's much more amazing then a lot of people they write about on this! (hint hint pandora!)
@aeris 009
Agreed, I love his music and his music is what made Final Fantasy What it is... |
Despite him leaving Square in 2004, this doesn't mean he is not going to make music for the games anymore. Although he only contributed to the Final Fantasy XII with the theme song, he is doing most of the music for XIII.
@Kero - More like Nubuo is to games as John is to films. Theyve both done work on other things than what you mention (I mean, who can forget to theme to Indiana Jones?)
Nobuo is to final fantasy as john williams is to star wars. The music sets the mood and can really make or break a game.
I've bought every CD he's been apart of and I still listen to him on Pandora. If that doesn't give you a good description of the quality of music he writes, I don't know what will.
My favorite composer! I don't think the Final Fantasies would have been the same if he hadn't composed the songs.
@fakethestov e r
I can't agree more. Square hasn't been the same since he left. Check out Mistwalker's games if you're interested in his more recent work. |
I like Nobuo Uematsu!!!!! ! ! ! ! His music made Square Enix's games worth playing. His music is so uppity and when I hear his music when I am depressed about something I cheer up.
everyone should also listen to "kow otani" the composer of the "shadow of the colossus" soundtrack. It's the only vg music I've heard that even compares to uematsu
I do not think there is a VG composer such as Uematsu that fully captures the emotion of a scene and can just place it in music as well as he can. His music inspires and just overall makes you close your eyes and appreciate his sound.

Well Put.

Nobuo truly is one of the reasons Final Fantasy is, what it is. He is a genius.

MORE PLEASE PANDORA! Get more Nobuo Uemastu!
Please, all his music is amazing. |
Love, love, love this composer. He plays a big part in the success of the Final Fantasy series, I think, due to his expert ability to tell heart touching stories with his music.
I honestly can't believe Uematsu is actually on Pandora. Not that I'm complaining.
And for d3m0nsly3r, the Black Mages is actually Uematsu's band. |
