i was turned on to Nusrat back in 96 in prescott AZ, by a good friend. i agree with what you are saying, he is amazing and needs to be recognized. also brother Ravi.
It's good to see I'm not the only one frustrated with the world music situation. I can't believe the only Nusrat they have are these club mixes. Also I was shocked that Ravi Shankar doesn't exist in the Pandora universe except as the father of Anoushka Shankar and Snore-ah Jones.
As much as I've enjoyed Pandora, world music is definitely not its strong point. Besides the absence of Qawwali music, there's a terrible dearth of Afro-pop, including greats like King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti. I typed in names of dozens of Africa's biggest pop stars and very few came up. The message window says that Pandora will look into adding those musicians not in its database; I hope they do.
This dude's music shouldn't come up as "electronica", but unfortunately it does due to these stupid compilations that include him. There ought to be some real Pakistani Qawwali music around here.
