Papa Roach
Biography
Starting out as a punk- and rap-influenced band, the northern Californian alt-metal group Papa Roach grew into a straight-ahead hard rock ensemble with strong heavy metal leanings. Consisting of Coby Dick, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner, and Tobin Esperance, Papa Roach formed in 1993 and began releasing EPs soon after, including 1994's Potatoes for Christmas and 1995's Caca Bonita. By 1996, the group replaced original bassist Will James with Esperance and hired a new manager; the following year, Papa Roach released their first full-length album, Old Friends from Young Years, which became a surprise hit on local radio. The band's regional success led to more prominent gigs, including dates with Suicidal Tendencies, Sevendust, and Powerman 5000, and a deal with Dreamworks Records, which released Papa Roach's second album, Infest, in early 2000. The album went triple platinum thanks to the success of the single "Last Resort." Two years later, frontman Coby Dick opted to go by his given name of Jacoby Shaddix. A second album, lovehatetragedy, appeared in June 2002. Stylistically, the band had begun to grow beyond its rap-rock roots and the new tracks showcased a slightly more mature, melodic, and straightforward hard rock sound.

I think I detect a bit of inmature jealousy in some of the previous comments, but all I can say is that their music is constantly innovative and very easy to listen to. Lyrics are great and the delivery is full of energy and vitality. Seen them live a couple of times and those were among the best concerts I've been to in quite a while.

These guys were at Cruefest.... w h i l e there is nothing wrong with them live.....the y are just really annoying.... . t h e singer brags about how he's in a "rock and roll" band and acts like an idiot, while the bass player must have fixed his whole entire look and demeanor from the Nikki Sixx catalog...do w n to the hair, the way he played his bass and even the scarves/band a n a s hanging from his back pockets....i t was ridiculous.

Their latest album sucks it had some good songs but overall it sucked but PApA RAOcH is still a good band and they rock I hope their next album is better then their last.

BEST BAND IN THE ENTIRE F**KIN' WORLD!!! Don't care what anyone says! Seriously, I am more than borderline obsessed. A lot of lyrics could be constrewed as depressing (I believe someone said Whiners???) but they are real for a LOT of people. I am at an amazing point in my life right now but Papa Roach helped me through so much when I was having a lot of hardships. Plus, they are one of the only bands that is even better in concert than on the c.d.!!! So mad respect for these guys. <3<3<3<3<3 Abr
