Pete Yorn
Biography
New Jersey native Pete Yorn took a rather unique route to singer/songwriter acclaim, gaining his first big break by providing the score to a Farrelly Brothers film. Having graduated from Syracuse University several years prior, the 26 year-old pulled up stakes in 2000 and relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where he began writing music for film and television. Prospects increased when Yorn was recruited to score Me, Myself, & Irene, a Farrelly Brothers movie starring Jim Carrey. One of his own pop/rock numbers, "Strange Condition," appeared on the film's soundtrack and was subsequently released as a single, where it fared well on the modern rock charts and increased public demand for Yorn's songwriting.
After netting a record contract with Columbia, Yorn returned to the studio and co-produced his debut album, 2001's Musicforthemorningafter, with Brad Wood and R. Walt Vincent. He also played the bulk of the instruments himself. Yorn supported the album by touring for 18 months, enabled Musicforthemorningafter to go gold by April 2002. The following spring, he returned with the earnest Day I Forgot, which featured several contributions from R.E.M.'s Peter Buck (who had previously made a cameo on the single version of "Strange Condition").

Pete Yorn Is Huge. His lyrics have helped me in so many ways to just get through and be who i am. if you listen close you hear the soul of a senstive great genuine person being poured out and focused i can relate cause i'm definately not him, im no where near as good as him. i cant even play the guitar, i just write lyrics, but i'm a personality simalair to his in a younger day and age. I wish every Day That i had Been at that show in jersey in 2003.

I saw him last summer at Lollapalooza and he put on a good show considering it was early Saturday afternoon.

super live. the venue was small and the concert he gave was forever long and included HIS own favorite songs by other artists (the Smiths, etc). it was laid-back AND loud; one worth listening to!

His life isn't a fairy tale, he just has a great life which he worked hard for. He is f-ing talented, and I like his music.
