Protest The Hero
Biography
Combining technical metal and post-hardcore instincts, Whitby, Ontario's Protest the Hero comprised Rody Walker (vocals), Tim Millar (guitar/vocals), Luke Hoskin (guitar/vocals), Moe Carlson (drums), and Arif Mirabdolbaghi (bass/vocals). Starting as many bands do -- with a common musical passion found among high school friends -- Protest the Hero worked hard on developing their own identity; their sound soon became reminiscent of a combination of Coheed & Cambria, At the Drive-In, and Every Time I Die. They released the 7" Search for the Truth on Canada's Underground Operations in 2001 and followed up two years later with the EP A Calculated Use of Sound. Their music was getting noticed around the country, as they won Best Indie Metal Band at the 2004 Indie Music Awards in Toronto and had multiple appearances on the Canadian music channel MuchMusic. Relentless touring continued with a range of bands from Korn and Limp Bizkit to Bigwig and Sum 41. Protest the Hero issued their full-length, Kezia, a sort of concept album referred to by the band as a "situationist requiem," in 2005. Signing with Vagrant in early 2006, Kezia was re-released in the United States that April. In 2008, the band released its second album, Fortress. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

a plateful of our dead is def my fav sooo sick like every other song by protest =>
im glad some people understand this s**t, so many are stuck with that boring a**, repeated bullshit. verse chorus verse chorus. how unique. these guys bring my standards up so high, i must listen to asymmetrical music now. Listen to Between the Buried and Me and All Shall Perish if you want more mind blowing stuff. The Human Abstract is sick, but their new album just does not do it to me like nocturne, Aj minette will be missed :(

Protest the Hero rules the world. I'm not sure why there are other bands tryin to make music with them around!

HA HA! Anybody that listens through 'Fortress' and doesn't touch themselves during BloodMeat, The Dissentience , Bone Marrow, or Goddess Gagged is an ugly person. So is anybody that criticizes Rody's vocals. The guy can sing circles around anybody else in their style. And the lyrics! Jesus Lord! Read Bloodmeat. It's so heavy it gives me frostbite and kidney problems. If you like those water-spitti n g , s**t-lyric rhyming, hardcore-dan c i n g , pompous 'Core' bands better than Protest, you should go bac

alright ryan, there is no reason arguing with your c**k sucking taste in music, your the biggest tool bag on this site, go listen to your mainstream garbage because that is all you know, and clearly you are not a musician because otherwise you would have eaten a dick instead of trumped killswitch, trivium, and the like over these guys. its quite obvious you know jack, so theres no reason in even reasoning with you. your cool
Eh... so far I don't know about this band...music is good singing is garbage. I'll give them a chance but I don't know how far i'll be able to get into this stuff
OKAY VDECKER!!! IVE GIVEN PROTEST THE HERO TIME ENOUGH TO PROVE THEMSELVES. IVE EVEN LISTENED TO ALMOST ALL THERE S**T TO SEE IF THEY'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES. GET OVER THEM, THEY SUCK! AND OF COURSE THERE SO HUMBLE AND COOL IN PERSON LIKE THEY WANT THERE FANS TO THINK THERE DICKS, CAUSE EVEN THEY NO THERE LITTLE BEAUTIFUL VOICES SUCK. SO THERE ITS IS, AND YES IM TALKING S**T.
protest the hero is AMAZING fortress is one of the best albums ever created by human hands i cant wait to punch some emo kid in the face at their concert!!!!! ! ! ! PTHFTW!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
PTH! Got butt-faced with Tim after the show! These guys are sooo frickin good, and soooo frickin cool! Personally one of my favorite bands, but I dont know about a PTH station, besides Unearth, im not interested. Check out my stations!
Similar artists? Pandora, you suck. These guys have way more originality than any of those bands. AILD, ATR, and KsE all got their sound from Swedish melodic death metal. Why not put Between the Buried and Me, The Human Abstract, and The Faceless up there instead?
Fortress is one technical beast of an album, and ryant you are idiot for even comparing Protest the Hero to a s**t band like BFMV.
OKAY HERES THE DEAL THESE GUYS ARE GOOD BUT REALLY JUST ALRIGHT,BUT WHAT DO I KNOW? WAIT I DO KNOW, TRIVIUM JUST ONE BAND FOR STARTERS STOMPS THE S**T OUT OF THESE LITTLE HEROS. AND PLEASE, I HOPE YOU DONT THINK THERE ANYWHERE NEAR BETTER THAN KILLSWITCH, ALL THAT REMAINS OR EVEN BULLETFOR MY VALENTINE FOR HELL SAKES. THANKS IM OUT!!!!
oh ya see these guys live too. everytime i did (three times) i got to talk to the band, got autographs and got to chill with them a little bit. the most humble guys ever, and they are amazing enough to be total douche bags about it, and they arent! another reason why they are my favorite. way better than the most arrogant musicians, and they will tell you there are better out there.
i agree, btbam is a great band. very talented musicians. excellent bass player! thats really sweet! they do a great job of writing music.
ya you cannot talk bad about this band, they are amazing (glad no fool did too like they usually do)! and def check out between the buried and me and the human abstract if you like these guys, as those three bands are my favorite, protest at that number one spot.
I agree with Nia. Turn Soonest to the Sea = Freakin' awesome.
"...and did I mention a few prison bars melted into (melted in... melted in.. melted in to...)WEDDIN G BANDS!" |
Besides them being from Canada theres not a damn thing you can say negative about this band. F**king brilliant
I couldn't go to WT :( I suggest Nocturne - The Human Abstract if you like PtH. PtH is just brilliant. Fortress is a masterpiece on the level of BTBAM's Colors.
"And if heaven rides against us then God himself must be DAMNED!!" |
Awww...Pando r a cut of the ending to Turn Soonest to the Sea. That was like my fav part of the song, it was like a sing-along.
=< |
hillary lost..ha..
yah PTH is amazing, even their orignal demos sound like a work of genius as young as they were thats pretty darn impressive |
Music perfection. Love them! Google 'The Syncope Threshold'; an Indie band that reminds me of PTH. Will not disappoint.
Love their talent. Kezia is brilliant, but their CDs always end before I'm satisfied!
the band live...WOW.. and fortress is another nice piece that in my opinion stands them out even more from the crowd.... LIMB from LIMB
An amazing band, they need to update this profile, their new album "Fortress" kicks complete and total a**!
Thanks for your opinions. Now shut up and get back into the basement.... . . . . . . . . H i t l e r y Clinton for President.
