Raheem DeVaughn
Biography
The son of jazz cellist Abdul Wadud, Maryland-based R&B vocalist Raheem DeVaughn kicked his career into gear after initiating a series of independent releases, aided in part by the cash reward earned from winning a talent contest. Jive became interested, signed him, and released The Love Experience in June of 2005. The album peaked within the Top 50 of the Billboard 200 album chart, with the singles "You" and "Guess Who Loves You More" regularly spun on some of the more adventurous R&B stations across the U.S. Love Behind the Melody followed in January 2008, but not before its first single, "Woman," was announced as a 2008 Grammy nominee for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

The female voice-over on this track sounds a hellava lot like Natalie Stewart, formerly Floacist of UK's Floetry, and the female singer sounds like the Songstress, Marcia Ambrosius, also from Floetry; ANYONE know if it's them or not?

Raheem DeVaughn...W h e r e do I begin? He is a rarity in an age where auto-tune has our ears believing what we hear is music. A gem in an industry that would rather see a man defame women, than build them up. After years of being told to "drop it like it's hot", I am appreciative of what Raheem has to say, and his insistence on rising above the pitfall that claims many great artists: changing their style to fit in with the Joneses. He's AWESOME!!!

Raheem is what music suppose to be, the emotion expressed through melody, and since we all feel love, pain, lust, and anger, his music has a common ground

When you listen to Raheem, it's like he's reading your diary. From the whisper of the song "You" to his come hither joint "Customer". All of those raw emotions out in the open. How could not fall in love with...his songs! -Jadiva
