Real Life
Biography
The Australian new romantic band Real Life formed in the early '80s with a new wave-influenced sound similar to Duran Duran. Comprising vocalist/guitarist David Sterry, drummer Danny Simcic, bassist Allan Johnson and keyboard player Richard Zatorski, the group gained a hit in Australia during 1983 with "Send Me an Angel," from their debut album Heartland. The single became an international success by the end of the year, and settled at number 29 on the American charts. Real Life returned to the Top 40 early in 1984 with "Catch Me I'm Falling," but lost its Australian contract two years later after second album Flame was a commercial and critical disappointment.
The group remained on Curb/MCA in America though, and had their biggest hit in 1989 when a remix of "Send Me an Angel" reached number 26. With the addition of new keyboard player Steve Williams, Real Life recorded Lifetime, but it too failed, and the band found themselves with no contract at all. After a five-year hiatus, the group returned in 1996 with a self-released EP titled Like a Ghost. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

Wowzers. My question. Why cant you go to a club and dance to this stuff all night anymore? Your only choice nowadays is between gangsta music and every one at the club packing heat waiting for you to step on their shoes so they can throw down or a bunch of disturbed individuals wearing black and pretending they do not really want to be their. I remember L.A. when I was a kid. Sneaking in to the Florentine gardens and melting into the scene. The big hair the girls had was sooo hot. memories.

Check out Real-Life's Australian co-horts: The Eurogliders. Their song : Heaven (Must be there) is a really good song too from the early eighties. Australia continues to produce intriguing music today! Namely: Cut Copy, an eighties inspired indie/dance band!

Wow, lots of comments on this artist (or mostly, for the big song!). I used to hate this kind of music, but it really does take me back--good stuff.

Send me an Angel! Yeah! This is from one on my favorite eighties movies of all time, Rad! This is from the scene where Jesse's chick from Full House is doin' all kinds of stunts on her BMX in the school cafeteria except it's obviously a stunt double and the stunt double is obviously a broad-should e r e d dude. Awesome. So classic.

Really the entire album Heartland didn't have a clunker on it. I liked every song on it. I just wish I could find a fairly price CD of it... my vinyl is starting to wear out.

This song played once when I was sleeping. I dreamed I was being pursued by my love interest who was chasing me with a knife. Although I was trying to get away, this song in the background made for the best nightmare I ever had. Dying never got so cool!
